Position Purpose:

As our Waste Auditor you'll conduct meticulous pre-acceptance audits of healthcare waste generated by our valued customers. Following our company process and adhering to legal requirements, you'll assess waste segregation practices, packaging, and compliance. You'll play a crucial role in promoting sustainable waste management practices and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • You'll be responsible for undertaking healthcare waste customer pre-acceptance audits and producing reports in accordance with legal requirements, following our company process. Your attention to detail and adherence to guidelines will ensure effective waste management practices and compliance.
  • You'll review third-party healthcare waste customer pre-acceptance audits in accordance with legal requirements, following our company process, and report on your findings. Your thorough assessments will contribute to maintaining compliance and improving waste segregation practices.
  • You'll provide advice, training, and waste technical assessments to healthcare waste customers, supporting them in waste segregation, packaging, and compliance according to environmental regulatory agency guidance. Your expertise will empower our customers to meet regulatory standards and enhance their waste management practices.
  • You'll be responsible for conducting audits of healthcare waste customer waste at Stericycle facilities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. You'll report the level of compliance to the operational and commercial team and present findings to customers when requested. Your insights will enable us to continually improve our services and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • You'll conduct duty of care audits at disposal vendor sites to ensure Stericycle's compliance with duty of care regulations. Your thorough assessments will contribute to maintaining our commitment to compliance and environmental responsibility.
  • You'll support the administration of the waste pre-acceptance process, ensuring smooth operations. Your organizational skills will assist in managing the documentation and coordination required for effective waste management.

To Succeed in this role

  • You have experience in the healthcare waste management industry, that means you have an excellent understanding of key aspects such as segregation, packaging, and consignment. You'll be the go-to person for ensuring that waste is properly handled and processed in accordance with industry standards and legal requirements. Your in-depth knowledge of healthcare waste management practices will be instrumental in conducting audits and providing valuable guidance to our customers.
  • You possess good commercial and operational awareness. This means understanding the broader context of waste management within the healthcare industry. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with our operational and commercial teams, providing them with valuable insights and reports on compliance levels. Your awareness of the commercial aspects of waste management will contribute to enhancing our services and fostering strong customer relationships.
  • You have an auditing qualification or relevant experience in the field is essential. We value individuals who have a strong foundation in auditing principles and techniques, as this will enable you to conduct thorough assessments and provide accurate reports.
  • You have a valid driving license as you'll be traveling to different healthcare facilities and disposal vendor sites throughout the UK. This will allow you to reach these locations independently and efficiently, ensuring that audits are conducted promptly and effectively.

How you’ll demonstrate your ability

  • You are up to date with healthcare waste environmental regulatory guidance. Your good understanding of these guidelines will enable you to ensure compliance and assist our customers in aligning their waste management practices with the latest environmental regulations. You'll be a trusted advisor, helping customers navigate the complex landscape of waste management regulations and implementing best practices to minimize environmental impact.
  • You have great communication and interpersonal skills. You'll be interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders, including healthcare waste customers, team members, and disposal vendors. Clear and concise communication will be crucial when providing advice, conducting audits, and delivering training sessions. Your ability to build rapport and establish effective working relationships will facilitate collaboration and ensure a smooth flow of information.
