About RNID
We are RNID: the national charity supporting the 12 million people in the UK who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.
Together, we will end the discrimination faced by our communities, help people hear better now and fund world-class research to restore hearing and silence tinnitus.
We work with our communities and partners across industry, government, charity, education and more to change life for the better.
RNID has a proud history and big ambitions. We’re focused on making the greatest impact possible across the whole of the UK. We champion the latest technology and the opportunities it brings. We also know the value of a friendly face in local communities to support people where they need it most.
Join our team
At RNID we have big, ambitious plans to make real impact for our communities. To do that, we need the right people in our team.
We are a remote working organisation, with colleagues based across the UK in locations from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands and everywhere in between. We come together in person three times a year for our Staff Summits, inspirational events for sharing skills and ideas, hearing from external speakers and spending quality time with colleagues. Working in this way, we bring together the best of digital and in-person working in a modern, progressive organisation. We know our colleagues have responsibilities and interests outside work and we want to support that, which is why we offer a sector-leading flexible working policy to all our staff from day one.
Our values are at the heart of how we work and communicate with each other, and the outside world. We strive to be an organisation that is connected, insightful, curious and passionate in everything we do.
Does that sound like a good fit? If so, we can’t wait to hear from you…
The Audiology Adviser will play a crucial role in ensuring RNID is the leading and trusted source of hearing health, hearing device, and audiology information for our communities.
We know how important accessing good quality audiology services and information is to our communities. But we’re also acutely aware of the audiology-related challenges our communities are facing right now. Audiology waiting times have not recovered to pre-pandemic levels, people are having huge difficulty accessing NHS wax removal, and many people are not seeking help for hearing loss when they need to. We want to change this, and this role is central to our aims.
What you’ll be doing
This is a key role which will work across our matrix structure, contributing to the work of the Insight & Policy capability and supporting the delivery of the Strategic Health Programme.
You will:
- Be an internal subject matter expert on hearing health, hearing devices, and audiology, ensuring we have up-to-date and accurate information to support the delivery of our strategy.
- Develop high-quality hearing health and audiology material that meets the needs of our communities.
- Provide audiological insight and expertise internally, assisting colleagues across the organisation with audiology-related queries.
- Support the Audiology Manager in the development and implementation of relevant audiology policy and influencing work.
- Represent RNID externally where required, including supporting media enquiries, working with key external stakeholders, and attending external meetings.
You
Are passionate about supporting people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus, and excited by the opportunity to do so on a national scale. You will have in depth hearing health, hearing device, and audiology knowledge, and will draw from your experience as a practising audiologist to ensure our information and insight is accurate and up to date.
You’ll be a strong communicator with proven track record of interpreting and translating complex information to suit a variety of audiences. You’ll keep up with the latest developments in hearing technology, audiology practice and service delivery. You will have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and direct your own work. You will thrive working at pace in a complex, rapidly changing environment, collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders.
For your application to be successful you’ll need:
Essential
- BSc in Audiology or equivalent, with relevant and recent clinical experience in adult aural rehabilitation.
- Excellent written and in-person communication skills with demonstrable ability to translate complex health information to suit a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Good knowledge of the audiology landscape across the UK, with a particular focus on audiology provision within the NHS.

Desirable
- Understanding of tinnitus, including assessment and management.

- Sickness benefit entitlement from day 1
- Fully remote working with no core hours
- £26 remote working allowance every month
- Three in person whole staff conferences a year
- Pension scheme with 4% employer contribution
- Employee assistance programme that provides counselling sessions
- Additional benefits for maternity, paternity and adoption
- Hospital Saturday Fund health benefit
