The Role
To assist the in-house audiobooks team to ensure all titles are edited, mastered, and delivered on time and to an extremely high standard. To setup up the suites, and be on hand to help readers and producers throughout the day with any technical issues.
The Person We Are Looking For
You have a passion for audio, you’ll love audiobooks, and will be a dab hand at editing. As such you know ProTools like the back of your hand. You must have had some hands-on experience of editing longform audio and voice recording.
You have an extremely high attention to detail and you’re comfortable managing many different projects simultaneously.
You are willing to go that extra mile for your colleagues and clients, and you buzz off working as part of a busy team that always delivers. You know the importance of time management and you have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You will most likely have a qualification in Sound Engineering or Audio Production, and/or a couple of years experience in the audio industry.

Key Responsibilities
● Editing long-form audio.
● Assisting the editing team with mastering to various client specs and file delivery.
● Setting up and shutting down the studios at the start and end of each day.
● Studio maintenance.
● Assisting readers and producers with technical issues
Essential Requirements
● Excellent knowledge of ProTools and other industry standard audio hardware and software.
● A good understanding of mic techniques and principles such as compression,
EQ and cleanup.
● Excellent attention to detail, highly organised and a multi tasker.
● Proactive and able to work on own initiative.
● Able to plan tasks and prioritise effectively.
● Ability to problem solve and work under pressure.
● Friendly, approachable and a team player.
● Must be eligible to work in the UK.
Optional Skills
● Some sound design experience of any kind - construction of soundscapes or manipulation of sound effects.
● Any other audio related experience, such as music or live sound.
Key Responsibilities
Editing, amending and delivering the audiobooks and other longform voice recording projects we produce in the dept, to our clients specifications. Some productions may involve sound design and/or music work too.
Studio management - Setting up sessions, troubleshooting any issues and creating a comfortable atmosphere for producers and narrators in keeping with the personality of Red Apple
Sometimes producing and directing the narrators and managing the in-studio sessions using ProTools to record the book.
Hours:
9am – 6pm Monday to Friday. Please note: Future plans in the dept may call for a review of working hours. This includes flexible times including early evenings and occasional Saturdays being considered - applicants should be aware of this and open to conversations in this regard. We will never impose changes, but we’d like to know you’re open to change.
We have monthly team meetings and 'catch ups' - sometimes out of hours - and
Christmas and summer parties and team outings.
Salary & Benefits:
- £26,000-£29,000 depending on experience.
