About the Trust
We deliver district general services to 2.5m residents of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, and its surrounding communities. Our specialist services allow us to deliver care to 4.5m people from across the East Midlands and nationally for a handful of services. QMC is where our Emergency Department (ED), Major Trauma Centre and the Nottingham Children’s Hospital are based. It is also home to the University of Nottingham’s School of Nursing and Medical School. Nottingham City Hospital is our planned care site, where our cancer centre, heart centre and stroke services are based, and where some of our emergency admissions units are located. Ropewalk House is where we provide a range of outpatient services, including hearing services.
What you’ll be responsible for:
· Accurately transcribing from Winscribe digital dictation and Winscribe Speech Recognition digital dictation, outpatient clinic letters and miscellaneous clinical correspondence to a high standard with specified timescales.
· Responsible for the production of discharge summaries, clinical papers and material for publication from either audio or copy typing.
· Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines
· Undertake daily peer audit of clinical correspondence to ensure a high standard of accuracy and quality of work.
· Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner.
· Liaising with outpatient administrator re. Appointments and necessary important clinical information to ensure patients are seen on their pathway without delay.
· Manage e-mail accounts to retrieve Inter Provider Transfers then record and take any necessary action as appropriate
You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
· An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS.
· Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times.
· A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation.
You’ll have the following skills/experience:
· System knowledge – Medway and Noris
· Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
· Excellent organisation skills
· Excellent typing skills
· Previous NHS experience
· Able to read reports and data
· Microsoft office- word, outlook and excel
