Job description
The Audio Team in Wales is part of Operations and provides operational staff and facilities for radio programme makers in BBC Wales, the wider BBC and for external clients. Our Supervisors work across a wide variety of Radio programmes.
Working within the Operations Department, Audio Supervisors provide, operate equipment in radio studios and outside broadcasts, including major events. You will liaise with production staff in planning and programme making and support the Senior Audio Supervisors.
You will work an irregular shift pattern dependent on programme requirements at any time of day or night, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs an Audio Supervisor you will mix programmes in a variety of environments - Radio studios and outside broadcasts on a full range of programmes including General Programmes, Sport, Events, etc. You will work on various BBC network services, in particular Radio Wales and Radio Cymru as well as assisting Senior Audio Supervisors on specialist output.
You will provide connectivity and communications expertise on outside broadcasts in the most complex of situations, manage the studios and take responsibility for those working environments.
You will ensure that the quality of the programme sound and communications satisfy the aims and requirements of the production and meet BBC technical standards.
Are you the right candidate?You will have good operational knowledge of sophisticated sound equipment, recent developments in programme making methods, excellent aural judgement and a proven ability to prioritise in demanding situations. You will understand the theory and use of operational equipment, and ability to undertake basic front-line maintenance on this equipment when necessary.
