Back to Front Swimming are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and organised swimming teacher to join our team at Kirkby-in-Ashfield (NG17) from September. We are a small, friendly private swim school who are ideally looking for experienced qualified (would consider newly qualified) teachers primarily for our independent lessons operating weekends and evenings with the opportunity for some day time hours in our Parent Baby classes as they arise.
The position will be on an employed basis but we will consider self employment for the right person.
Your primary role will be to teach children of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, technique and confidence in the water. You will deliver sessions in a professional manner and undertake administrative tasks associated with the role (i.e. lesson plans, class registers, monitoring and evaluation).
Ideally you will hold a Level 2 swimming teacher qualification and a parent child qualification (will consider applicants with just the teaching qualification) and have some experience of both these types of lessons. We will also consider applicants who just hold the Level 2 Swimming qualification or just the Level 1 swimming teacher qualification with a good amount of experience of teaching swimming.
Main Duties:
· Plan and deliver lessons in accordance with the scheme of work;
· Ensure safe provision of all equipment and ensure it is used correctly;
· Ensure safety standards are followed in sessions;
· Identify participants’ abilities and encourage them to reach their full potential;
· Provide clear explanations and demonstrate swimming techniques;
· Correct faults in swimming techniques and identify ways to improve performance;
· To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage participants to engage in swimming;
· Evaluate sessions and give feedback when required;
· Assess each participant’s ability and progress as required;
· To attend staff meetings as and when necessary;
· Be fully committed to own personal learning and development;
· To agree to abide by a code of conduct and carry out duties in accordance with Back to Front site policies, including equal opportunities, safeguarding children, health and safety at work, etc.
· Assist in cleaning duties as required

· Able to work as part of a team and also on own initiative, with minimum supervision;
· Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings and weekends and cover Holidays.
Knowledge & Qualifications:
· Hold ASA/STA Level 2 (experienced L1) Teaching Qualification (or equivalent).
· Willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check;
· Knowledge of child protection and welfare issues;
· Hold or willing to gain a lifeguard/teacher rescue qualification.
