Job description
We are looking for a technically strong, personable, versatile, commercially minded and ambitious lawyer to pursue a career in banking and finance with us.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within one of the largest specialist finance practices outside London and with a team that is top-ranked in Chambers UK.
This fast-growing and dynamic team carry out a wide variety of work. We cover acquisition/leveraged finance, real estate finance, asset-based lending, trade finance, venture debt and corporate cross-over debt products.
We are one of the few firms outside London who can comfortably manage high value club and syndicated finance transactions and the smaller value, bilateral deals. We also have significant international reach, with well-established links across the world with tried and tested partner firms who frequently engage us on the English law aspects of banking and finance transactions.
Recent highlights include work for Lloyds, OakNorth, HSBC, Innervation Capital Partners, Merino Private Equity, Prax Petroleum, Samsung and Rock Rail.
Training and knowledge management are first class. Like the firm as a whole, the team environment is friendly, supportive and relaxed and all team members have the opportunity to do interesting and challenging work and to participate in business development, knowledge-sharing, training and CSR/ESG/pro bono initiatives.
There is plenty of opportunity for the right associate to build a career in this fast developing practice group.
We are looking for a strong team player with good inter-personal skills, good academics and high quality experience who has a commercial approach and excellent technical, communication and negotiation skills.
We offer excellent supervision, coaching and training, but we expect all team members to take responsibility at an early stage and to want to be stretched and challenged. An appetite for business development will be a definite advantage.
We provide excellent long-term career opportunities for ambitious candidates who aspire to partnership. We aim to reward associates with market-leading salaries (outside London), and a comprehensive package of benefits.
We recognise that lawyers value the ability to work flexibly and we have agile working policies to facilitate flexible working. We have launched a new agile working policy for the post-pandemic era and we are redesigning our office space to accommodate more agile and flexible teams. We are happy to consider both full time working and candidates seeking 4 days per week.
Stevens & Bolton – making a positive difference to your career
Stevens & Bolton is a UK law firm with over 200 staff. Of those around 150 are lawyers, approximately a third of them partners, many of whom chose to join us from City law firms. Our office is based in Guildford and our staff work from here and also flexibly.
We’ve made excellence the hallmark of our firm: in the clear advice we give, in the enduring client relationships we build and in our proactive and highly responsive service. We seek to recruit people who will help us maintain and build on this, and in return we offer excellent long-term career and development opportunities.
You’ll work with people who listen, and who actively and willingly support one another within a collaborative and engaging environment. We genuinely care about our people and strive to build and maintain a diverse, inclusive and happy workforce.
We have a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion (D&I).
