LOCATION: New York, NY office. BMI has transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office three (3) days a week. Decisions regarding future transitions will take place in phases as BMI continues to closely monitor COVID-19 as employee safety is our priority.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Sort, organize, and distribute extensive incoming departmental mail for both the Classical department, which receives over 300,000 concert programs annually in addition to regular correspondence.
- Prepare detailed quarterly financial analysis of classical music composers and publishers using royalty accounting system.
- Prepare general correspondence for supervisor, including large-scale quarterly and annual mail-merge letters to composers and publishers.
- Assist the Executive Director with new classical affiliations: filing documents; setting up prospective affiliates in the online portal; notifying the team of new classical affiliates.
- Process all incoming classical International Performance Reports including validation of title against works database.
- Maintain classical music databases and mailing list addresses for composers and publishers.
- Monitor and respond to incoming email for the general Classical inbox; monitor, print, and distribute all incoming performance reports to the Classical Concert Reports inbox.
- Maintain and order all office supplies and stationery for Classical department.
- Prepare and submit adjustment requests
- Assist with estates of deceased BMI affiliates
- Regular attendance
- Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in music with preference given to performance, musicology, composition, or music theory. Knowledge of and interest in living classical composers and contemporary classical repertoire
Experience: Minimum 6 months professional experience in the music field preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access
- Planning, time management, and organization skills
- Flexibility and initiative
- Ability to work in team environment as well as individually with minimal supervision
Salary Range:
$25.00 - $28.00/hour. The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors.
