Assistant Psychologist – Op Courage Integrated Veteran Mental Health & Wellbeing Service
Location: East of England
Salary: £24,000 per annum
Full Time, 12 month fixed term contract
St Andrew’s is a charity commissioned by the NHS to provide specialist mental healthcare for people with some of the most complex and challenging mental health needs in the UK. The Community Partnerships division specialises in taking our clinical expertise into community settings and offers a variety of psychology-led services both in Northampton and in London and surrounds including a Private Therapy clinic, Medico-legal department, ASD assessment and Memory clinics, criminal justice services and both student/staff support services.
The Op Courage Integrated Veteran Mental Health & Wellbeing Service has been recently recommissioned by NHS England Armed Forces and offers military-sensitive assessments, signposting, advice, liaison and intervention for UK veterans. The East of England Op Courage Service is a collaborative partnership between EPUT, NSFT, St Andrews, Walking with the Wounded, the Warrior Programme and Mental Health Matters and aims to provide a range of support for veterans and their families living in the region.
The Role
We are looking to recruit an Assistant Psychologist to support the delivery of psychological assessment and stabilisation offered to veterans across the pathway. You will also support the collection of data to help monitor the impact of the service, as well as helping to review progress in MDT meetings.
The successful applicant will join a highly motivated, supportive and friendly team that includes Psychologists, CBT Therapists, a Sensorimotor Psychotherapist, Assistant Psychologist, Social Workers, Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Nurses, Veteran Support Liaison Officers, Psychiatry and Administrators.
We are looking for someone who ideally has previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist in the field of mental health. Whilst previous experience in working with Veterans would be an advantage, full training will be provided to candidates who have relevant clinical experience and who have a genuine interest in developing skills to help Veterans improve their quality of life and wellbeing. The service is community based and appointments are offered in the veteran’s locality or remotely via telephone and video. As such, you would be required to travel at times to see clients in identified clinics, working under the supervision of a registered psychologist and in conjunction with other members of the team. A full, clean driver’s license is preferable. The main base for the post will be Northampton and some attendance here for team meetings and training is required.
