Job overview

This post supports the Clinical Neuropsychology team to provide input for adults who have had an acquired brain injury. This includes providing input into the community services provided by the Acquired Brain Injury Team in Cheshire. This post is fixed term for one year and is offered on a 30 hours per week basis. The position is based at ABI Service offices at the Acorn Suite on the Countess of Chester Health Park.

The successful applicant will work under the supervision of experienced clinicians and have access to support from other Principal and Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologists within the service. This is an exciting opportunity to develop protocol based psychometric, neuro-rehabilitation and psychological therapy skills to contribute to ongoing career in clinical psychology/neuropsychology.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside case managers and vocational rehabilitation occupational therapists in an interdisciplinary team setting. The roles will require you to travel extensively around community settings within the Wirral/Cheshire area.

To support the professional neuropsychological care of patients within the Acquired Brain Injury Service, across all sectors of care; assisting with neuropsychological assessment, neurorehabilitation and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinical neuropsychologist, working according to plans agreed with a qualified clinical neuropsychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits and collection of statistics related to departmental requirements, research projects, teaching and project work as appropriate.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 2.1 or equivalent Degree in Psychology (main subject Psychology)
  • Eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS) - either through completing an accredited undergraduate course/conversion course OR by providing evidence of BPS approval of non-UK qualifications
Desirable criteria
  • Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • IT literate with experience using of Microsoft Office (or equivalent) to prepare documents, manage spreadsheets and produce presentations
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis packages e.g. SPSS

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of work related to Clinical Psychology either as paid / voluntary Assistant Psychologist or Research Assistant with relevant clinical input
  • Evidence of ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of neuropsychological assessment
