We are recruiting for an Assistant Psychologist to join a team that is passionately committed to empowering children, young people, and families to build resilience through the healing of adverse childhood experiences and trauma. Creative Therapy Options provides a range of therapeutic and community services across the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire counties, for service users who are impacted by mental health challenges, neurodiversity, developmental delay and trauma-attachment. Our work is holistic and trauma informed. We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have had experience working with children from a LAC background, CAMHS services or in a child development centre. Those with training in the following will be prioritised: ADOS; ADIR; Attachment interviews such as MoTC, ACC, Adult Attachment Interview; CBT practices and DBT.

Job Title: Assistant Psychologist

Contractual Terms: Permanent 22.5 hrs per week
Contract duration: Permanent
Fees: £21,000 to £25,000 pro rate dependent on qualifications/experience
Main Activities
The role includes but is not limited to:
- To conduct psychometric assessment under the direction of Clinical Psychologists.
- To ensure that all relevant documentation and information are available to enable the specialist clinical team to complete the psychological assessments and reports.
- Where appropriate, to conduct clinical assessment and intervention with clients of all ages, under the supervision of the Clinical team.
- To provide both verbal and written clinical data, to score and record psychometric data on computer records and manually. To manage the accuracy of all such calculations and data input to a very high standard and to provide a high standard of written report, grammatical accuracy and layout display on reports.
- To provide accurate proof-reading of reports and other documents.
- To maintain a schedule for report deadlines and ensure that these are adhered to.
- To maintain accurate records and filing systems and to provide statistical analysis of the agency aspects of the Centre's work.
- To conduct or assist with research projects as directed by the Clinical team.
- To take part in training courses or in-house training opportunities as directed by the Clinical Lead.
- To attend and contribute to staff training and organisational meetings
- To prepare materials for teaching and training purposes and to conduct presentation of that material under the direction of the Clinical lead.
- To conduct review and assessment of test materials and their developments. To develop or arrange the purchase of new test materials as necessary.
- To undertake personal training and staff development, supervision and reading appropriate to the post.
- To act in accordance with all service policies and procedures.
- To liaise with clients and purchasers of legal assessments and therapy regarding estimates, contracts, invoices, attendance, non-attendance, report deadlines and court attendance in the case of staff shortages.
- To provide general office cover as required.
- To ensure that standards of dress and behaviour are conducive to professional interaction with all agencies and clients and to ensure a professional and therapeutic environment for clients, and other visitors.
- To undertake any other such tasks as directed by the Clinical lead.
*This job description is subject to review should service needs and development require, in consultation with the post holder. Training fees are considered where appropriate to be paid by CTO to outside agencies for approved and supported training. This is by individual negotiation and is considered in conjunction with job performance.
*The roles are varied and provide opportunities for supervised clinical work in assessment, interventions and groups, supporting the team with report writing and clinical discussions with colleagues, ad hoc audits and service development work.
