EPIC Psychology & Wellbeing Service is a school led partnership established to meet the needs of local children, families and schools. Our partnership of 25 primary schools and 4 secondary schools work closely together to develop a high-quality service that best supports the need of our schools. We also work with the South Leicestershire Inclusion Partnership which provides support to secondary aged children and young people, Community Paediatrics and Leicestershire LA.
Our service covers pre-school – Y13 both mainstream, community and specialist provision.
As a service we are fairly unique. We are school led, which means we have established our partnership by request and with support of local primary schools, and we are one of only a handful of cases in England with this structure. This makes us an exciting place to be working, and means we are a fast-paced organisation charged with new ideas and opportunities.
Our service provides high need support for children and families and also aims to develop an effective wellbeing provision to support families, safeguard children’s mental health and offer training for all people working with our children. We are a team of educational psychologists, assistant psychologists, undergraduate assistants and a full-time administrator. We also work closely with our sister service, Speech and Language Therapy, within EPIC having shared policies and professional meetings. The Service is changing to meet local and national need. Our Service is constantly changing to meet local and national need and we continue securing a diverse range of partners (service users) as we grow Discovery Trust.
We are currently seeking to appoint two Assistant Psychologists, to join our energetic and vibrant team based at the De Montfort House situated on our Millgate School site. You will be responsible as a team of assistant psychologists in helping deliver a psychological service to schools across the Trust, and their communities, wider county schools, and to undertake duties across the Educational Psychology Team in support of the Senior EP. Year on year we introduce new training packages & research areas and look to increase our scope as a service, working as creatively as possible. We have a focus on therapeutic work. EPIC is considering becoming an approved placement provider to be able to offer TEP placements. This has led to LA commissioned work and we are exploring expanding this part of our service.
We are a fun, fast paced and energetic team. We would welcome applications from psychology graduates, with at least a 2:1, who possess Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (Registration) and who have shown a passion for applying psychology for the good of children and schools.
The Assistant Psychologists will work as part of EPIC to achieve the following:
- Support some of the administration tasks so that they gain an understanding of the process from referral to feedback.
- Support the organisation with some of our training and conferences.
- Liaise with the administrator to support other duties as appropriate within EPIC.
- Support the EPs by developing resource packs, useful tools for children as part of their interventions.
- Support the EPs by scoring different assessment tools, analysing evaluation data, creating surveys as appropriate.
- Take part in team meetings to listen to issues that impact on a Psychology Service.
- Take part in small training opportunities such as ELSA or one of the EPICnMIX workshops.
- Accompany EPs on school visits that do not involve individual children assessments or discussions.
- Agree to all data protection and confidentiality protocols within the service.
- Engage in training groups to upskill yourself and be better equipped to deal with the role of EP in the future.
We will support our assistant with training, guidance and mentoring to make this a hugely rewarding role.
If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you!
