A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Supply Chain Manager to join a family run manufacturing business within the food processing industry. These are exciting times due to ambitious growth plans under a new Managing Director and this role would see you join as a key member of the Senior Management Team.
This is a new role to the business, and an exciting one, but it is not for the faint hearted!
You will be a highly motivated leader with proven ability to implement new systems and process, whilst developing a team through periods of growth within a Supply Chain Management Role.

The Role:
The Supply chain manager is responsible for the procurement, movement and storage of raw materials, work in progress, finished goods, and spare parts.
You'll ensure the right number of raw materials and components are available at the right time for the production process and for spare part sales, as well as manage storage, handling, and distribution of all goods inward and outwards.
Responsibilities
As a supply chain manager, you'll need to:
- Manage and take overall responsibility for the procurement, stock & warehouse, and sales & customer service parts department managers
- Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs.
- Motivate, train, coach and appraise your team
- Implement new systems and processes across all departments with specific focus on stock management and control.
- Use IT systems to manage stock levels, delivery times and transport costs.
- Implement regular stock takes with accurate costing system
- Implement a system for work in progress costing
- Initiate a culture of change in attitudes towards, stock control, wastage, and cost control
- Manage the process of negotiating contracts with suppliers for best value and rebates
- Plan and implement processes for logistics/storage of WIP/finished goods
- Develop on current product storage, handling, and distribution, with planning for future capacity/growth
- ensure you're aware of exactly what is happening throughout the supply chain
- improve the overall supply chain performance and look for any possible innovations to the process
- develop new and existing relationships with suppliers
- plan for future demand by collaborating with the machine sale department
- manage and control import and export requirements, duties, and responsibilities
- manage and minimise the risks (for example operational or reputational) that could affect or interrupt the supply chain
- consider the environmental impact of the supply chain working towards carbon neutral objectives
- manage and promote safe working practices and implement a culture of safety first
