We're looking for an Assistant Portfolio Manager to join our Wealth Management division known as Cazenove Capital, which is part of the Schroders group. Someone who is passionate about delivering excellent client service and investment management for our clients.

We want someone who can work alongside our Portfolio Managers, with the desire and curiosity to learn their job as well as your own. You'll do it by getting to grips with the analysis, checks and balances that keep our clients' portfolios in great shape.

You'll be busy, hands-on and can-do. Learning your way around the foundations of investment. Tuning in to clients' needs. And keeping Portfolio Managers informed and up to date.

About Schroders, our parent company

The team

We're open to flexible working, so we can all balance our personal and professional commitments.

What you'll do
  • Support Portfolio Managers and Directors to manage clients' portfolios in line with their investment wishes, our rules and the regulations whilst developing relationships of trust
  • Be a point of contact for clients, react to all enquires in a timely manner and maintain a record of responses
  • Help to plan, organise and attend client meetings
  • Take responsibility for preparing client material including meeting packs and reports
  • Help to manage our account opening process for new clients and additional portfolios for existing clients
  • Take part in external fund manager meetings and internal investment meetings across Schroders to share information and insights on market knowledge and projects
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with portfolio investment recommendations and, with their approval, carry out any changes to underlying securities or funds
  • Help with assessing portfolio suitability and performance and prepare investment proposals
  • Carry out trades in client portfolios in line with instructions and investment recommendations
  • Handle administrative duties promptly, including checking clients' transaction statements and monitoring outstanding deals
  • Keep colleagues informed about clients' portfolios, reporting any changes, queries or problems
  • Combine regular daily tasks with longer term projects with varying deadlines whilst responding to incoming enquiries
  • Participate in our industry leading, in-house presentation programme
  • Maintain and update your knowledge through continual professional development (CPD)
  • Be supported in seeking to achieve professional qualifications (RDR level 7), such as CISI Level 7 Chartered Wealth Manager qualification, which includes 10 days of study leave and sponsored courses
  • Embody the core Schroders' values of Excellence, Innovation, Teamwork, Passion and Integrity in all aspects of your work.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
  • Excellent IT skills, especially with the Microsoft Office suite
  • A keen interest in the wealth management industry
  • An interest in global financial news and markets
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to multi-task

What you'll be like
  • A really good communicator – great at listening, being clear and giving reassurance
  • A good number cruncher
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Good at working in a team, and with other teams
  • You'll have real attention to detail
