Design & Creative Manager
We are looking for an experienced design/ creative professional to manage our Design & Creative Team which sits within the wider Communications Team.
We want someone who can ensure our design/ creative is innovative, engaging and inspiring, think creative, not corporate!
The role is hybrid, this means approximately two days per week in the office with the team and three days per week working from home. We offer a variety of flexible work options and support to employees.

You’ll be working within the newly created Social Media, Design and Income Generation Team on a wide variety of projects including developing visual brands, major events (this year including the Coronation and Eurovision party), place marketing, education and social care communications.
No two days are the same and you will never be bored!

The role:
- Day-to-day management/mentoring of two graphic designers
- Improve design workflow, efficiency and reduce climate impact
- Contribute to a culture of individual and team learning, delivering training
- Provide design and creative advice to colleagues, senior officers, elected members and other stakeholders
- Responsibility for developing and managing brand guidelines for the organisation and services
- Ensuring accessibility within designed assets and promoting EDI principles
- Work to deliver Council priorities and strategies, use SMART objectives

- Line management/ leadership experience
- Able to produce a wide range of high quality, creative products; video, print, digital, animation
- Expert user of Apple Adobe Creative Suite
- Effective and efficient time/ workflow management
- Work with a wide variety of stakeholders at a variety of seniority levels
- Experience and education:
- Educated to degree level in a design related subject or
- Equivalent relevant experience or qualifications in graphic design, creation of creative content
- Practical level of experience required for the role
Interviews
We will ask all those shortlisted for interview to undertake a practical task at the Town Hall on the day of interviews.
Interviews will be with a panel of 3-4 people.
If interviewed you will be asked to prepare a presentation in advance to deliver at the start of the interview.
There will be a series of questions asked at the interview, some of which will be provided in advance to enable you to prepare your answers.
