We currently seek to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Assistant Librarian to join the school on a permanent and full time during term time basis from 1 September 2023.
With our new fully refurbished library due to open in Autumn 2023, the appointment of a full time Assistant Librarian comes at a very exciting time for the school. The new facility, situated at the heart of the school, will create a bright and state-of-the-art working environment which will provide our students with modern study areas supporting our commitment to both scholarship, and innovative teaching and learning. Our library stocks approximately 21,000 books, plus several thousand ebooks and audiobooks, along with a substantial collection of subscription databases and websites. In addition, the library provides Chromebooks, printing, scanning and photocopying facilities for students.
The Assistant Librarian provides support for the Library and for the Librarian. Duties of the role include but are not limited to; maintaining an appropriate learning environment, dealing with queries from students and staff, ensuring Library users know how to use the Library’s equipment, assisting with Library lessons, shelving, tidying, cataloguing and repairing books, identifying and making available further resources, and deputising in the absence of the Librarian.
The Library is open and staffed from 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 5.00pm on Fridays during the term time, on a rota basis covered by the Librarian and Assistant Librarian. The role therefore includes sole supervision of the Library at times.
The working hours are full time during term time which includes the full weeks in which a term begins and ends. The working hours are Monday to Friday with a working day of either 8.00am to 5.00pm or 9.00am to 6.00pm.
The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.

All staff working in the School during the school day will have some contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. In this role you are likely to be regularly working directly with, and be responsible for, children in your care.
