We are currently looking for an ambitious Assistant Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team at our Head Office. You will work with the Finance Business Partner to provide the critical interface between finance and operations, be responsible for credit control and line manage the billing officer. In addition, you will have the opportunity to negotiate with our commissioners to ensure the charity remains financially sustainable. These responsibilities mean that you will directly influence growth within the business.
The successful candidate must have the enthusiasm to drive the organisation forward in its development.

Job Description
Accountable to: Finance Business Partner
Accountable for: Billing Officer
Relationships: Critical interface between finance and operations. Essential to build good relationships with customers.
Main Purpose of the post;
Assist the Finance Business Partner in being the critical interface between finance and operations with direct responsibility for those interfaces in certain areas. Be responsible for credit control, ensuring monies are received into the charity in a timely manner, and accurately allocated. Line manage the billing officer. Under the guidance of the Finance Business Partner, directly negotiate with our commissioners. Analysing financial information for reporting to management and the Board. In summary to directly support the charity to remain financially sustainable.
Key responsibilities
Line manage the billing officer, including schedule and prioritise work, target setting, supervision, performance appraisal and sickness / holiday reporting.
Ensure billing is processed accurately and efficiently, and that all deadlines are met. This will include process improvements.
Responsible for credit control ensuring monies are allocated and debts are recovered in a timely manner. Working with the billing officer to resolve invoice queries. Ensure all credit control targets are measured and met.
Assisting the Finance Business Partner in:
- supporting the operation to
- manage their budgets effectively, with direct responsibility for some budget holders.
- cost new packages of care and amend existing packages.
- manage packages of care to maximise financial efficiency across the organisation.
- negotiating fee uplifts with commissioners
- ensuring income in the management accounts is recorded accurately.
- analysing financial information for reporting to management and the board.
Review and streamline existing systems and develop new systems where required.
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and ensuring financial records are kept up to date and accurate – digitalise where possible
Work with the Director of Finance and Finance Business Partner to ensure continuous improvement within the Finance Department.
Cover finance team roles when required
Office management, adhoc tasks and duties when and where required.

To participate in the staff appraisal and supervision programme
To participate in and contribute to Staff Training Programmes
To ensure that any matters concerning people we support and employees are kept strictly confidential to the organisation
To carry out any other duties which may be agreed from time to time, in discussion with the Finance Business Partner

Summary of Terms and Conditions of Service
- This is a permanent, full-time position.
- Salary will be paid at point 18, £30,772
- Hours are 37.5 per week. To be worked Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Attendance at meetings, courses etc. out of normal hours and at locations outside the Wirral may be required.
- Hybrid working is available, within the needs of the business.
- Leave is 5 weeks per year plus 8 days statutory bank holidays. One additional days holiday is awarded following completion of 5 years’ service and two additional days on completion of 10 years’ service
