The R&A

R&A Playbook
The R&A are the custodians of the game of Golf outside of North America. They manage more than 40 professional and amateur championships each year, including The Open, The Women’s Open, Curtis Cup and Walker Cup. Their purpose is to make golf more accessible, appealing, and inclusive and to ensure it is thriving 50 years from now.
IMG and The R&A have a relationship that spans more than 50 years, primarily across media rights and distribution, partnerships, and event support. As part of an evolution of the relationship, IMG is building a dedicated strategic partnerships team to deliver even greater success in the future. This role is crucial to delivering that success working on some of the biggest properties in golf and arguably the most exciting time in The R&A’s history.
What You’ll Do:
The role will embrace a wide range of duties surrounding the organisation of The R&A’s championship portfolio and other professional golf events.
Provide general administration support for the Golf Event Team, London, including personal assistance to the SVP Golf and VP Golf.
Key Responsibilities Include:
The R&A
- Responsible for supporting multiple events with a variety of tasks across The R&A portfolio to achieve the departments’ objective of creating best in class event servicing. Events include The Open, AIG Women’s Open, Curtis Cup and Walker Cup.
- Support SVP, Golf and VP, Golf in all aspects of The R&A account management.
- Support meetings, setting agendas, minutes and action points /following up notes.
- Build relationships and support colleagues.
- Adapt and bring new ideas and be able to articulate this to the wider teams.
- Assist in creation of key client presentations and documentation.
- Develop clear and concise internal and external presentations/reports.
- Attend events to support with a multitude of tasks.
- Onsite management of client programme during the events, including international travel.
- You may also be required to carry out any other duties which are within the scope and purpose of the job.
Personal Assistant
- Support diary management, travel support, expense processing for the SVP Golf and VP Golf.
- Collate and distribute meeting minutes, weekly meeting agendas.
- Work with office admin on visitor passes and meeting room bookings for external meeting guests.
Golf Team
- Coordinate general Golf Team admin.
- Manage weekly whereabouts and parking requests for the Golf Team via online system.
- Coordinate team social events and gatherings (Christmas Party etc).
- Manage team clothing requests and orders.
- Assist events team raising POs and invoice management.
Key Results Areas
- To create an efficient reporting system.
- To effectively plan and organise work efficiently, and to be able to meet deadlines.
- To receive positive feedback from The R&A and other strategic partners.
- To build a network of relationships with The R&A and other strategic partners.
- To contribute to the team with new ideas or new approaches.
- To positively represent company culture and participate in morale-boosting activities.
You will have the following strengths:
- Demonstrate/established experience in event administration.
- Incredibly organised, systematic and process driven.
- Experience in the sport or golf industry is desired.
- Experience in end-to-end event or project management is desired.
- Experience of liaising with senior clients and stakeholders up to CEO level.

- Ability to manage time in a multi-tasking environment and prioritise based on changing needs of both the client and the team
- Ability to analyse problems and develop practical solutions
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines
- A desire and willingness to travel

- Self-motivated and proactive and ready to work as part of a small team.
- Good organisational and planning skills.
- A clear and professional writing style.
- Strong customer service skills in both written and verbal communication.
- Use of Microsoft suite of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.
- Basic Skills in MS Office Programs including – Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Working Conditions:
- The work location is Chiswick Park, London.
- This is a permanent contract.
- Working hours are 09:00 - 17:00.
- Regular weekend work where you may be required to travel to events domestically and internationally.
- Outside of event travel there will be a requirement to travel for meetings as part of the role.
- Able to commit to periods away from home, primarily in St Andrews, Scotland.
