Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Waste Operative to join our Surrey Council account in Woking Borough Council.
The salary for this position is £11.20 per hour. Overtime is available at x 1.5 rate. Bank holidays are also paid at higher rate.
Amey have been working in partnership with Surrey Council since 2017. Surrey is known for its natural beauty and with it covering a quarter of the UK, our aim is to help it stay that way by providing a range of waste, recycling collections and street cleansing services to circa 400,000 residents across four boroughs: Elmbridge, Woking, Surrey Heath, and Mole Valley. By working in partnership, we’re able to deliver an improved reliable service, whilst making savings.
As a Waste Operative/Loader you will be to collecting refuse/recycling from residential properties and dispose of refuse in designated receptacles. Please also bear in mind that you will be required to work in all weathers, which can be a challenge.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week. Your shift pattern will be Monday - Thursday starting at 6.30am and finishing at 3pm with 0.5h of break, and then on Friday you will be starting at 6.30am and finishing at 2pm with 0.5h of break.

You will be responsible for:
- Collect refuse/recycling from requested locations and dispose of at the appropriate waste collection sites
- Carry out and assist with loading and manual handling responsibilities as required
- Work as a member of a team and receive any instructions from supervisors and communicate them to other crew members
- Ensure the satisfactory completion of work in accordance with instructions and compliant with Amey’s Health and Safety at Work requirements
- Carry out any other duties and responsibilities that may be required

Ideal candidate will hold valid and clear driving license and have an extensive experience within the Waste Industry.
Previous experience in customer services and good knowledge of the Surrey area is an advantage, but also is not an essential skill.
