The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has been set up to provide health security for the nation by protecting from infectious disease and external hazards. It will take action to mitigate threats to health before they materialise. UKHSA will be a trusted source of advice to the government, the NHS, parliament, industry and to the public.
As a Management Accountant you will be working with a highly motivated and passionate group of people in an exciting and fast-paced environment with an opportunity to make your mark and influence government policy and delivery. You will provide finance business partnering and management accounting support to a specific portfolio within UKHSA.
Main Responsibilities- Work with both the Accounting and Control Team, and Financial Reporting Team to provide/prepare evidence for year-end audit queries.
- Identify transactional adjustments for your business area and provide robust financial management information to business units on a monthly basis.
- Ensure that accruals and transactions are posted correctly, in a timely manner and with sound supporting evidence.
- Support Finance Business Partner colleagues' in preparing financial information for monthly meetings with your business area budget holders.
- Take responsibility for maintaining your areas budget approvals hierarchies on internal systems.
- Carry out first stage review of variance analysis for month end reporting for input into ExCo reports.
- Process budget changes at quarterly reviews and during re-structures in business division re-alignments.
- Support the year end accounts production process for your areas by working with the Finance Business Partner to ensure all disclosure returns are completed accurately to pre-agreed timelines.
- Provide financial information and data gathering for FOIs/PQs for your business areas.
- Qualified with CCAB, CIMA or qualified by experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ previous experience in a similar, strategic accounting roles.
- Previous experience in budgeting, forecasting and costings, strategic analysis & insight and investment appraisal and evaluation.
- Experience working with a range of senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Excellent communication and advisory skills, both verbal and written.
- Civil Service or NHS experience desired, however not essential.
