Many of our children and young people attend good and outstanding early years and education settings and our school improvement journey has been a positive one. We have a clear plan to achieve this and we are looking for an exceptional person to help us deliver this plan.
THE ROLE
We are seeking an Assistant Executive Director for Education and Inclusion who can drive forward our ambition for all children and young people to have the best start in life and ensure they achieve the best possible outcomes as they transition to adulthood. You will lead on and develop the following service areas:
- Delivery of the Council’s statutory functions in relation to education;
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities;
- Adult learning and skills;
- Family Hub and Best Start in Life Programme;
- Youth Services.
Knowsley’s Education and Inclusion service has been working closely with Children’s Social Care to bring together a cohesive approach to how we support our children and families. A number of key initiatives are now in place including social workers being based within our Secondary Schools. We want to take this further. The development of the Family Hub and Best Start for Life programme provides the opportunity to create a truly integrated system that better meets the needs of our children and families whilst enabling children and young people be prepared to achieve well in their education settings.
You will need to be an outstanding leader with an exceptional track record in improving education for all whilst also understanding the critical social factors that can influence how a child develops and learns. You will also be passionate and determined to deliver and have excellent skills in developing partnerships and high performing teams. You will need to have an interest and understanding of the needs of children and young people and be able to lead our transformation plans for our children that will enable them to succeed both in childhood and in their adult life.
