Job description
The Estates Directorate is seeking to recruit highly motivated Assistant Engineering Estates Officers to help manage both Mechanical and Electrical maintenance works, assist with major repairs and plant replacement and undertake minor works projects. Your objective will be to develop and sustain a high standard of engineering maintenance and estates service provision with an understanding and appreciation of building disciplines.

You should possess a good understanding of hospital mechanical and/or electrical engineering maintenance practices and building services including Water Safety, Ventilation, LV/HV, Emergency Lighting, Pressure Systems MGPS and Fire Alarm Systems and experience in an acute hospital setting.

- To manage a variety of engineering, energy and environmental duties including maintenance, installation, testing, repair and commissioning of services and equipment under the direction of the Estates Officer.
- Act in the role of Authorised Person (Limited Duties) in the management of one of the sites complex engineering systems under the supervision of the Lead Authorised Person, to include the management of technical documentation as part of the safe system of work.
- Manage minor works and engineering capital projects including production/obtaining of budgets, programmes and co-ordination with internal teams and external contractors and professionals.
- Undertake condition surveys to ensure engineering assets are maintained at acceptable standards.
- Shall be prepared to undertake additional training in order to fulfil the requirements of the post, satisfy new regulations/legislation or to further develop their duties.
- To participate in the Estates out of hours “on-call” emergency service following a suitable induction and competence assessment by the Senior Engineer.
