Assistant Editor - 12 Month FTC
We are TalkTV: The latest innovation from News UK, TalkTV will launch early in 2022 creating a major new channel, available to everyone across the UK and delivering a bold new voice in current affairs, debate and opinion. The channel will also deliver documentaries, entertainment and sports shows and proper hourly news bulletins. Piers Morgan, one of the most recognisable broadcasters in the world, is the first signing for TalkTV and will deliver a primetime show which promises to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews. Drawing together world-class talent across News UK, TalkTV will be broadcast from state-of-the-art studios at The News Building in London Bridge and available live or on-demand, on linear and connected TV and on any personal device.
Your team: You will be working on TalkTV’s prime time flagship show, Piers Morgan Uncensored.
Your role: As an Assistant Editor on Piers Morgan Uncensored, you’ll work closely with the Editor and presenter to craft rundowns and oversee output for a prime time show with a global outlook. As a senior editorial leader, you’ll manage the production team to tight deadlines, provide a barrage of ideas for lively debates, and take ownership of a live broadcast with top production standards aired in the UK, US and Australia. You’ll play a leading role on a high-profile show which frequently makes news headlines - and strategise the show’s continued rapid growth across digital platforms.
What we’re looking for from you:
Substantial experience in outputting live programming;
A calm, professional and supportive attitude to managing in a lively newsroom;
Broad knowledge of the names and themes in current affairs, with the ability to spot and craft the big debates underpinning news stories;
Passion for US news and global stories with universal appeal;
Exemplary editorial judgement, and the ability to make big decisions under pressure;
Flair for writing factual and entertainment scripts with meticulous journalistic accuracy;
