Our client one of the UK's leading Highways Contractors are looking to recruit a talented Project Manager to work in Yorkshire and the North East.
Role
As a Project Manager, you will oversee the delivery of the work programme from concept to completion, whilst ensuring works are delivered to time, to cost, and quality. They are responsible for the day to day running of site / project, working with the Contract Manager to ensure that all client timescales are met without exposing our client to risk.
The role holder takes responsibility for all aspects of an individual contract, i.e. commercial, programming, resources, health, safety, quality, environmental, etc and ensure that all client timescales are met without exposing OUR CLIENT to risk. Therefore, they need to work as part of a team and express excellent communication skills.
The Project Manager is required to follow instructions from the Contract Manager and other Operations Management and comply with site safety rules and our Health and Safety policies and standards.
Responsibilities – but not limited to:
· Define a project’s scope and goals.
· Planning and scheduling project timelines.
· Competent with producing tender programmes (MS Project)
· Coordinating project staff.
· Complete CPP’s & Issue job packs
· Attend client meetings (progress / ECI)
· Complete and update Risk Registers
· Resource planning and allocation.
· Quality assurance.
· Complete & carry out method statements and risk assessments (site specific).
· Review contractor RAMS
· Managing project administration, including all documentation.
· Meeting budgetary objectives.
· Reporting regularly to senior management.
· Tracking project performance.
· Raise EWN’s & Raise TQ’s
· Raise and draft NCR’s
· Prepare & collate As Built & HS Files
· Organise resources (labour, plant, materials, sub-contractors) on each site to complete the work to plan and programme
· Ensure that all plant & machinery provided for the works is suitable for the tasks being undertaken
· Ensure site related paperwork is completed and issued to the relevant department(s) on a weekly basis
· Monitor working hours, to ensure compliance with WTD
· Responsibility for performance of Supervisors and Foremen under their control and to continually appraise and develop their skills
· Coach and look after new starters, so that they become competent to work alongside a motorway or high-speed road
· Organise training of employees in the various skills required for execution of the works
· Ensure that only trained personnel are used for the activities being undertaken
Skills & Experience
· Experienced Project Manager (Site Agent / Senior Engineer level)
· Civil / Highway’s engineering experience including drainage, earthworks etc.
· Ability to demonstrate detailed understanding of change control procedures outlined in the NEC Form of Contract
· Understanding of Health and Safety legislation
· Client liaison / developing and maintaining good busines relationships
· Experience of programming at target price stage
· CDM experience
· Proficient in Microsoft Project
Qualifications & Accreditations
· HNC/HND Civil Engineering or Construction Management
· SMSTS
· CSCS Gold Card
· NRSWA Accreditation
· IOSH
Person Specification
· Hardworking, flexible, reliable, and most importantly can identify safe/unsafe working conditions.
· Excellent working independently and within the team.
· Ability to train and develop junior staff
· Essential they can work some nights on occasions
OUR CLIENT
· Company vehicle, fuel card and PPE are all provided
· A full SHEQ site induction will be carried out upon start.
· Please note pre-employment D&A testing will be required due to the nature of the industry.
