Job Purpose/Key Responsibilities
This role of Packaging Designer: Group Sky, is the execution of design work across multiple projects and focuses on:
- Support the Group Industrial Design Director and Lead Industrial Design Manager in shaping the packaging designs, on-product graphics and instructional guides for Sky hardware products, ensuring alignment with wider product and brand strategies and constantly striving for excellence
- Manage compliance information on product and on packaging
- Assess product, user research and design requirements
- Analyse and develop best practices
- Develop, test & refine prototypes
- Show an understanding of product range design, building harmony, consistency and clear purpose across multiple products and functionalities
Team
- Help drive our creative culture by being a highly visible advocate for all things packaging design
- Work closely with the wider design team to ensure visibility and provide input into group design critiques
- Champion excellent design, communication, and organization skills as well as the ability to work across teams
Relationship & Network building
- Work with stakeholder groups, suppliers, and manufacturers both within and outside the Group Product team
- Advocate the value of User Centred Design practices with stakeholders across the business
- Bring strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work across teams
- Pair effectively with mechanical engineers to help efficiently build designs to the quality and high standards our customers expect
For the role, we are looking for you to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- 3+ years of experience at a packaging firm /agency, design studio, or brand side creative/packaging team
- A strong portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in packaging design, including versatility with prototyping tools and methods.
- A Bachelor’s degree
- A proactive, self-driven individual that has an equally strong team ethos
- Proficient with the latest rendering and graphics tools and applications (CAD, Solidworks, Keyshot, Adobe Creative Suite or similar)
- Experience of designing packaging and/or instructional guides for consumer electronics
- Experience of designing sustainable packaging
