Job description
Directorate: Children and Young People's Services
Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week.
Rotherham is a borough with its sights set on the future. Our collegiate senior leadership team work closely with elected Members to set clear direction and vision for the borough, at the heart of which is the Council’s commitment to a great education for all, and our new Assistant Director will be at the heart of driving positive change for our borough’s children, young people and parents. Since 2018 our children and young people’s services have been ‘good’ and this is a fantastic opportunity to lead our Education and Inclusion Service that is making significant impact on its SEND and inclusion agenda, with a highly successful Safety Valve Programme and partnerships across all education settings to address attendance and attainment for the children and young people of Rotherham.
You will be passionate about achieving excellent performance and engage positively with key stakeholders in Rotherham and sub-regionally. You will lead the Council’s collaborative response in creating a self-improving school system led by networks of schools, federations and multi-academy trusts, and maintain our strong school sufficiency position. You will also be responsible for leading the Council’s ambitious SEND and Inclusion agenda, continuing our excellent work to deliver services across the borough to meet the widest possible range of need. You will support our positive working relationship with schools in offering effective school improvement services and continue to lead strategic change across the whole estate.
You will have relevant knowledge and experience in managing education and inclusion services in either a school or local authority setting. You will be joining a strong team who place families at the heart of their practice and decision making, and where continuous improvement happens every day. Our services receive strong political and corporate support, where every child able to fulfil their potential is a key priority within the Council Plan. This is a career enhancing opportunity for someone with the passion, ability, skills, experience and drive to address key education challenges in the context of both national and local reform, whilst simultaneously providing a supportive environment for you to excel.
