Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) has an exciting opportunity available for an Assistant Director, HR & Culture to join our team in Maidstone (with flexibility to work at other locations/work from home). You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £101,632 per annum.

Being an Assistant Director, HR & Culture:
This is the lead HR role for KFRS. The post holder will provide strategic advice, guidance, and leadership across the organisation on all aspects of helping people to achieve their best and enjoy the working experience. They will be expected to lead the strategic development across the range of Human Resource areas, union negotiations, lead change initiatives and be required to ensure that HR policies and procedures are legally compliant.
What you'll do:
- The development and implementation of the organisations HR Strategy ensuring that it supports the organisation’s strategic plans
- Championing a performance culture which continuously reviews employee experience and development and how that contributes to our success.
- Driving the organisations development, understanding and support of wellbeing and inclusion, including management of external wellbeing providers
- Leading, planning, developing, and implementing policies, processes, learning activities, leadership programmes, change initiatives, positive action and recruitment to support the organisations to meet its people strategic needs
- Accountable in the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance and performance measures for HR
- Driving and supporting effective management of change across the organisation, advising on strategies to achieve high levels of commitment to achieving agreed outcomes
- Developing and implementing strategies to creatively recruit, select, promote and retain a highly qualified, diverse colleagues, assuring that there is equal opportunity in employment
- Advising on the handling of serious employee relations matters and sensitive personnel cases, deploying high level professional skills to achieve successful outcomes
What you'll bring:
- Degree level qualification or CIPD level 7 in HR Management or Employment Law and or CIPD Qualified (MCIPD or international equivalent)
- Proven experience of working at a similar senior management level
- You should have experience of implementing culture and/or behavioural change in a project or organisational setting, including the design, planning and roll out of change programmes
- You should be able to role model an ethical and inclusive leadership style which encourages a coaching culture where people can make decisions from which they can learn and support a vision to innovate and change
- You should have experience of embedding wellbeing and inclusion strategies/initiatives, setting up systems to monitor and support colleague/organisational wellbeing, to demonstrate improved employee experience
- You are able to demonstrate that you promote the use of formal and informal engagement and consultation methods to obtain feedback from colleagues and customers about how to deliver and improve the delivery of HR services
