Your opportunity

This is your opportunity to join Deloitte Real Estate - ‘where business meets real estate'. Deloitte is one of the world's leading providers of professional services. We've established a new benchmark in how real estate Advisory services are delivered, with an unparalleled capability to provide innovative cross service solutions to the most complex property and construction challenges. As a team made up of property, finance and construction professionals, we provide business consulting services, as well as specialist technical advice, to a wide range of private and public sector clients across the UK and abroad. We can help clients with everything from preparing planning applications to managing complex transformation programmes.

Within Deloitte Real Estate is our well-established and growing Real Assets Advisory business, which is one of the largest integrated real estate advisory teams in the UK. The team consists of property, finance and construction professionals, including chartered surveyors, cost consultants, engineers and accountants.

We encourage consideration of flexible ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. If this opportunity is of interest to you with some flexibility, please do discuss with us.

Are you looking to return to the workplace after an extended career break?

For this role we can offer coaching and support designed for returners to refresh your knowledge and skills, and help your transition back into the workplace after a career break of 2 years or more. If this is relevant for you, just let your recruiter know when you make your application.

Your role

We are currently looking for an experienced Public Sector Consultant to join our growing Real Assets Advisory team as an Assistant Director/Director. The team comprises professionals from a range of backgrounds including chartered engineers, cost consultants, construction project managers, surveyors and accountants.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and sustaining client relationships whilst identifying, leading and converting potential sales in the Public Sector;
  • Oversight of the delivery of multi-work stream Real Asset / Real Estate programmes in the public sector (particularly central government). This will involve leading engagements which may combine expertise from across Deloitte;
  • Bringing the expertise necessary in Public Sector consulting, including an understanding of the Public Sector environment, business case and approval processes and ministerial / senior stakeholder engagement;
  • Development of thought leadership and creating external eminence for Deloitte;
  • Managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution

Within our team you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with like-minded people who are at the forefront of their chosen field and work within a stimulating and challenging environment, with a focus on outstanding client service;
  • Gain experience in a range of technical areas spanning strategy definition, transformation programmes, assurance and distressed situations;
  • Work in a business consulting environment, advising clients at executive management level to help them solve some of their most complex problems; and
  • Work with a wide range of public sector clients in the UK and internationally

The calibre of the clients you will work with is exceptionally high. Some of our projects require the highest level of security clearance so we would welcome applications from individuals with current SC or DV clearance, but this is not a pre-requisite for applying.

Within Real Assets Advisory you will:

  • Work on a wide range of public and private sector assignments in the UK and overseas
  • Work effectively in diverse teams with an inclusive culture where people are recognised for their contribution
  • Undertake detailed financial and commercial analysis to solve complex problems
  • Prepare reports and presentations to support client conversations
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the client organization right up to Board level
  • Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.

Your work, your choice

At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desk. We carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our clients. Please speak to your recruiter about the working pattern that works best for you.

Location: Your home office will be London, but this client-facing role provides lots of opportunity for travel in the UK.

Work pattern: This is a permanent contract opportunity. The role can be worked on a part-time basis, with a minimum of four days (80% presence) a week.

Our team members work a variety of agile working patterns. Tell us what arrangement works for you and we’ll try to accommodate.

Your professional experience

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience in managing senior client relationships and identifying, developing and converting business opportunities into sales
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong evidence of designing solutions to problems and the ability to translate design into implementation actions
  • Significant experience in leading workshops, sessions or meetings with various business or technical stakeholders to define requirements or strategic objectives
  • Project management experience, with the ability to understand key risks to successful delivery and how to resolve
  • Excellent people management skills and experience in building, developing and leading diverse teams, fostering an environment of learning, inclusion and support
  • Deep interest in innovation and a drive to build personal eminence in the industry
  • Continual pursuit of broadening the skills of themselves and the team

Desirable:

  • Professional qualification in a relevant area (eg ACA, CIMA, MICE, MRICS) welcomed but not a pre-requisite. Project Management and Stakeholder Engagement experience will be of particular relevance.
  • Some of our projects require the highest level of security clearance so we would particularly welcome applications or referrals of individuals with current Developed Vetting clearance; this role requires a minimum level of clearance of SC.

Your service line: Financial Advisory

Advising clients in the moments that define their business takes multiple layers of expertise. Much more than due-diligence, this is about diverse teams of specialists coming together, crossing service lines and international borders to tackle the many, complex issues involved in major transactions. And we have one of the broadest networks in the business. Here, you’ll find fascinating, career-building projects, market leading approaches, cutting-edge resources, huge clients and inspirational colleagues. As well as opportunities to develop a deep industry or product specialism.

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm. The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process.
