This newly created role is a central and strategically important position. This role is critical to our future success, and we are looking for someone with significant experience to provide inspiring leadership to the team and to build effective partnerships with external stakeholders, enabling the charity to become Digital at the core and make data driven decisions.
About the role
In this role you will translate strategy and ambition coming from trustees and the executive team into tangible and pragmatic delivery plans. You will also ‘horizon scan’ and ensure that the charity is always up-to-date on the possibilities that digital technology in particular, might make for those people and communities that we serve.
As a leader within the charity this pivotal role directly supports our Organisational Leadership Team (OLT), requiring you to also be responsible for inspiring, motivating and leading our people to deliver against our purpose and strategic objectives.
- Be a leader for Versus Arthritis first and your area of expertise and responsibility second.
- Provide clear, confident articulation of our organisational purpose and direction of travel.
- Role model and actively embed our values and behaviours across all activities.
- Deliver inspirational leadership for ICT and the data and digital development teams, reporting on performance and any issues to OLT and trustees. Ensuring staff are clear about the charity’s ICT, data and digital strategic priorities and plans, have clear objectives and are developed to their full potential.
- Be accountable for a high level of service of our current systems, and providing leadership for business improvement projects across ICT, data and our suite of digital platforms.
- Act as overall Progamme Lead for the Data & Systems Transformation Programme, working closely with key stakeholders and our wider project and programme management team.
About you
You will have:
- Proven experience at a senior management level across ICT, Digital & Data and Change, ideally with proven success in a medium to large charity.
- Proven experience of creating and implementing transformation programmes embedding a culture of change across a complex organisation and articulating complex technical issues to a non-technical colleague group.
- Experience of applying digital innovation, providing clarity to where new technical disruptors can bring successful change to current processes and systems.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of connecting across both physical and digital channels, including developing a suite of customer facing digital platforms in a complex organisation.
- Experience of resource management, balancing immediate needs with strategic demands and thinking that is required over the long-term.
- Successful experience of leading, motivating and developing people at all levels with an ability to create a working environment in which people can thrive and where subject experts are trusted to deliver to shared objectives.
- Proven experience of vendor management, procurement processes and the ability to develop relationships in order to achieve value for money from investments with a range of ICT and digital/data service providers.
- Successful experience of creating and managing financial budgets and long-term strategic plans.
- Able to communicate complex concepts and new ideas clearly and persuasively to key internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work with ambiguity, lead through uncertainty, generate and support effective networks and partnerships that are focused on the delivery of our strategic priorities.
