Job Title: Personal Assistant
Hours of Work: 6 hours per PA (Double Staffed)
To be used on a Tuesday & Thursday between 5pm to 8pm
Rate of Pay: £15 per hour.
Pen Picture of the Person Requiring Assistance:
I am an 8 year old girl living in the Sandfields area of Port Talbot. I enjoy going for walks including in the forestry and down the beach front. I would like to try going to the cinema to see if I enjoy it. I love listening to music and I enjoy going swimming and sensory play. I have quite complex needs so I’m looking for two special PA’s who know what they’re doing to work with me and to give my mum a little break.
Tasks Include:
· Support with manual handling (training to be provided if refresher needed)
· Support with Epilepsy management (training to be provided)
· Support with suction to help with chest infections
· Some personal care support regarding toileting
· Support in the community to do activities that I enjoy
· Support with Medication such as Buscopan and Lorazepam (medication level C.
· Keeping me company at home and doing fun activities with me
· Any other reasonable duties.
Personal Qualities and Attributes required:
A person who:
· is reliable, patient and caring
· Can undertake a number of complex care tasks professionally.
· Someone comfortable working in a family home and out in the community
· is positive, fun-loving and who enjoys working with children
· someone who can work flexibly in order to meet my needs
· Previous experience of supporting children with complex needs is essential.
Additional Information:
This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.
If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
