Job description
The NAL Assistant Curator is a key member of the small National Art Library curatorial team, and plays a vital part in supporting the core management of its collections.
Main responsibilities are:
- Participating in collection management and development, as well as in the planning and implementation of gallery rotations, in support of the Museum’s programmes and projects working closely with relevant departments across the museum, especially Conservation.
- Promoting the library collections through teaching, group visits, displays and publications, both online and in print.
- Enhancing the online presence and discoverability of the library collections by adding and amending NAL records on Explore the Collections.
- Acting as Photo Liaison for the NAL, i.e. processing photography requests for NAL material for academic and commercial purposes. This involves liaising with V&A Images, the Conservation Studio and the Photo Studio, as well as moving objects.
- Supporting public service in the NAL reading room, and responding to a large number of public enquiries, both onsite and remotely.
