ABOUT THE ROLE
Glendola Leisure is now recruiting for an Assistant Coffee Roaster at Gordon Street Coffee Glasgow for an immediate start, with the view that upon completion of training, production roasting shifts will be covering our Glasgow and Edinburgh locations. We are offering an average of 25 hours per week ; more hours are available should you wish to work in-store at barista level.
Days: 5 days per week
Coffee roasting and coffee production experience would be preferred but is not essential as full training will be given. However, a love of great coffee is essential as well as a background working in the coffee industry (barista for example) as a level of sensory and coffee knowledge will be expected for this position.
Assisting the lead coffee roaster in all aspects of production roasting, including ordering green coffee, packing trade/wholesale orders for collection, production roasting, cleaning and maintenance of the coffee roaster equipment to ensure safety and quality of roast and track all inventory by weighing and portioning accurately. This is a physical role with lots of lifting, moving and organising items as the job involves moving coffee sacks and lifting buckets (sacks of green beans weigh as much as 70kg), as well as transporting batches of green beans from the stores to the roaster.
Starting Salary: £11.50 per hour OTE (made up of £10.50 per hour salary and £1.00 per hour tronc) – increasing to £13 per hour OTE ( £12 per hour and £1 per hour Tronc) after completion of six months training.
