Management Accounting Manager - Finance - Norton Canes
Roadchef Motorway Services have an opportunity for a Management Accounting Manager , working within the Finance Team at our Support Office at Norton Canes on the M6 Toll Road.
Working as part of the Finance team, the Management Accounting Manager supports the Head of Management Accounts in ensuring the integrity of the P & L account and internal reporting requirements, including monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and other ad hoc reporting..
Supported by the Management Accountants and working alongside the Regional Controllers, this role supports and challenges current practices and ensures that actions for improvements are implemented.
The salary for this full time position is very competitive depending on experience.
Our ideal candidate must have the following:
Qualified CIMA accountant preferred but not essential- An attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- An adaptable, versatile and “can do” outlook
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workload and manage expectations
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively both verbally and in writing to a wide audience
- Relevant accounting experience, including journal preparation, data analysis and balance sheet responsibility
- Excellent Excel skills
- SAP experience preferred
- Multi-site retail or catering experience desirable
Responsibilities to include:
- Provide commentary and insight into variances to budget, forecast and prior years.
- Proactively identify risk and opportunity through ad hoc analysis of P & L and balance sheet accounts.
- By challenging current practices, ensure that effective controls are in place and recommend actions for improvement.
- Identify and implement process and reporting improvements by adopting a continuous improvement approach.
- Own the reporting of wages and, with a tightly controlled balance sheet process, provide variance analysis and challenge to the Operation teams.
- Responsibility for the reporting and analysis of maintenance costs.
- Produce information accurately and to deadlines by adopting a right first time approach.
- Develop relationships across functions, providing them with support and insightful management information.
- Own key profit and loss lines, posting adjustment journals each period to ensure their accuracy.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, using existing knowledge, for key profit and loss lines.
- Periodically prepare balance sheet reconciliations and review those prepared by the Management Accountants, identifying and recording any risks or opportunities.
- Work with the Financial Accounts team to ensure the accurate recording of costs.
- Assist with the year end audit process and provide support to auditors, as necessary.
- Maintain an up to date set of process notes.
- Other ad-hoc reporting requirements
