Job description
You know QVC. But you might not know how we’ve changed. Part of the Qurate Retail Group, we’re the world’s biggest broadcaster-retailer and the 2nd largest online retailer. We’re on a mission to enrich life’s everyday moments for Our customer.
We do that by selling exciting brands—from Apple and Dyson to Elemis and Skechers—in exciting ways, across electronics, beauty, fashion, home, garden and more.
You can be your authentic self at QVC. While every organisation says it supports inclusivity and diversity we really mean it. You’ll see that in what we do—for example, we’re championing modest fashion right now— and you’ll see it in who we are, because respect and wellbeing run through our veins, from our team member led groups supporting gender, ethnicity, disability, race and LGBTQ+ , to our Frazzled Café meets and our menopause friendliness.
No matter what role you’re in, when you share your ideas, you’ll always be listened to and always be valued.
It’s surprising. It’s rewarding. It’s a lot of fun and it’s so you. We’d love you to be part of it.
As an Assistant Buyer at QVC at Chiswick Park, London, you’ll be…
…At the heart of a very different approach to retail. We sell on TV and across digital, not in store, and that makes life so much more dynamic. If you’re used to planning how much you’ll sell in a week, with us you’ll plan for the next ten minutes.
Reporting into the Manager Buying, ou’ll be responsible for a critical path that takes products from vendors to the studio floor. You’ll work with everyone on that path to ensure each product is presented in the right way, and you’ll respond in real-time to what’s happening online and on screen. We believe there’s no more exciting place to be an Assistant Buyer.
Daily, you will:
Provide creative and administrative support to the Junior Buyer and Buyer in developing product ranges to meet sales, margin and stock targets within a the electronics area.
Work with top brands in helping us always improve and grow our range.
Gain experience of the buying process, working with the Junior Buyer and Buyer—you’ll be responsible for your own categories within a the electronics area
Manage category-related administrative processes time-sensitive to the business.
Collate and present product and sales information, trend packs and mood boards, including preparing for the day’s strategic meetings.
Produce range review packs, market reports and competitor shopping analysis, and bring suggestions of new ideas/products to the team.
Let’s talk about you
You’ve already had experience within a head office buying environment, ideally at BAA or Assistant Buyer level. You’ll have experience managing a critical path, be able to partner with suppliers and have the sort of deep product understanding that allows you to prepare guest presenters before a live show.
At QVC, we welcome ideas, so the ability to think entrepreneurially and put your hand up when there’s an opportunity to get involved in a new project will be valuable. You’ll also need good PC (Microsoft Word and Excel) skills.
If you can bring all that, there’s a clear path for you to progress and develop, and we’ll help you on the way.
What’s in it for you?
We’re a certified Top Employer. That means we always want to ensure our people practices remain among the best in the business. There’s a huge package of benefits, and here are some highlights:
