We are recruiting for an Assistant Building Surveyor to join our growing building surveying team in Oxford office.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual that has a strong ambition to forge a career within Faithful+Gould, a long established, international project and programme management organisation. Responsibilities:
- You will be working across a range of different clients and buildings, including but not limited to public, commercial, banking, residential, healthcare, defence and education sectors.
- You will be primarily working on large scale condition survey programmes, capturing data using an iPad in order to quantify and assess the condition of building assets. Your surveying will be supplemented with the use of specialist equipment such as drones, 3D mapping, borescope, hygrometer, disto etc.
- You will also undertake ad hoc work, supporting senior colleagues and delivering in other core areas of the profession such as defect analysis, contract administration, project management, measured surveys, the Party Wall Act, dilapidations and more. This will help you to gain the range of experience needed to become a Chartered Surveyor.
- You will support our 25 other UK offices in the delivery of key national commissions.
- You will be expected to support senior managers and colleagues in some day-to-day activities such as taking minutes, preparing report templates and validating survey data.
Essential Requirements:
- A motivated and sharp minded individual who is excited to begin their career in Building Surveying.
- You have already enrolled or are seeking to enroll on a part time degree in Building Surveying or a similar degree accredited by the RICS.
- We will encourage and support progress toward your degree and will accept applicants working on a part time basis, that require a day a week to attend University/studies. We may also offer additional study time ahead of examinations and key submission dates.
- Ability to write coherent and grammatical English and strong numeracy skills – minimum grade 5 GCSE English and Mathematics.
- A full UK driving license and a willingness to regularly travel around the UK.
- You must be willing to work away from home as required, in order to deliver on project commitments.
- Strong IT skills and technological capability.
- Excellent time management, punctuality and commitment to getting the job done.
- Meticulous nature and an eye for detail.
- Conscientious and consistently deliver to the best of your ability.
- An understanding of the need for professionalism and an ability to present well.
- A clean Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check record.
Desirable Requirements:
- Basic AutoCAD ability.
- Basic technical knowledge in construction and building surveying.
- Experience in a customer facing role, demonstrating an aptitude toward good customer care.
- Can demonstrate an understanding of commercial awareness and business development.
