C.L. Jones is a family run Timber & Builders Merchant trading since 1982 with 7 branches across Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy. We are now recruiting for an Assistant Branch Manager for our Holyhead branch.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a career driven individual that is looking to progress in the Builders Merchant sector. It is a full time, permanent position with normal work schedule; Monday to Friday (7:30am-5:00pm) with alternate Saturday mornings (8:00am-12:00pm).

The role

The role will suit an experienced individual that has a positive attitude and excellent leadership skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the Branch Manager in developing and managing the branch ensuring that the highest possible levels of customer service are given at all times. They will lead, motivate and support their team while continually looking to maximise sales and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support, motivate, coach and help raise the performance standards of your team.
  • Ensure all staff and the branch adhere to company policies and systems including Health & Safety
  • Day to day management of all branch operations and support to branch manager to ensure all targets and KPI’s are met.
  • Ensure all sales orders, follow up sales enquiries and deliver schedules and done quickly and efficiently.
  • Dealing with and resolving customer queries accordingly, involving other departments as required (Credit Control).
  • Ensure all company administrative documentation is dealt with daily (Stock in – Stock out)
  • Preparation of load and delivery paperwork to ensure goods are delivered efficiently, correctly and in a timely manner whilst ensuring optimisation of the fleet.
  • Supervising staff with the loading and unloading of deliveries, performing daily random checks on vehicles and machinery used in the performance of their duties.
  • Manage the branch and deputise for the existing Branch Manager during their absence.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Experience working in the Timber or Builder Merchant Sector
  • A strong customer focused approach and the ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • The ability to engage with colleagues to help to achieve the branch goals.
  • Strong administration and organizational ability to ensure daily operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Customer focused with sound commercial skills.
  • Good IT skills & PC literate.
