About the role
We have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our team here at Northumbrian Water. The role will have responsibility for the reconciliation and resolution of complex control accounts for NWL and its subsidiary companies along with preparation of monthly VAT returns.
The successful candidate will assist in the annual preparation of statutory financial statements for NWL’s subsidiary companies as well as support the monthly reporting cycle for the NWL Group to our holding company, including the analysis and reporting of variances for key balance sheet items such as accruals and prepayments.
We would like the role to support in the preparation, posting and reporting of debt and interest entries, bank reconciliations, project analysis and financial commissioning. You will also be responsible for responding directly to queries from stakeholders, including external auditors as well as internal colleagues across finance and the wider business.
About you
We would like you to have proven experience in a financial environment and be a part qualified accountant (eg CIMA, ACCA) or AAT fully qualified and ideally should be able to demonstrate experience of working to deadlines. Confidence in analysing and interpreting financial information and the ability to resource problems by attention to deal is essential.
The successful candidate will also have a working knowledge of multi-module financial systems, such as Oracle, and be proficient in the use of Microsoft excel. A complete-finisher, who takes ownership for their work, you will be adaptable to meet changing deadlines and priorities.
