The Company
Summer Boarding Courses (SBC) is an education provider, sitting part of a wider group, Dukes Education. Founded in 2008, SBC creates and delivers short-term residential courses for international students aged 6-17 years old in partnership with respected boarding schools and Colleges at the University of Oxford. The SBC Head Office team holds a genuine passion for teamwork, excellent customer service, and, very importantly, a sense of fun.
The nature of the work dictates that there will be extremely busy periods (particularly May-August) and with it comes a positive team spirit with everyone working together towards a common goal.
The Role
The Finance Junior will report to the Group Financial Controller (Dukes Plus) and the SBC Finance Manager.
We are looking for a highly organised, self-motivated person to fulfil the role who is also an excellent communicator. The role offers a real opportunity to develop and grow with the company and would suit somebody starting out in their finance career and studying towards their professional qualifications (AAT, CIMA or ACCA).
Location
The role will be based out of the SBC offices located in Central Leeds, with a mix of working from home and in the office.
Overview of responsibilities (this is not an exhaustive list):
Main Duties:
- Management of the Accounts Receivable process, including entering invoices, assisting with debtor control, and answering queries on invoices
- Management of the Accounts Payable process, including entering bills, weekly BACs run, and liaising with suppliers
- Daily bank reconciliations
- Dealing with international payments both incoming and outgoing
Additional Duties
- Assisting with training temporary summer managers
- Assisting with travel arrangements for staff
- Responding to finance related questions
- Involvement in annual budgeting process
- Providing assistance to other companies with the BTC group
- Complete other ad hoc tasks as directed by Group FC or FD – Dukes Plus
Skills and Experience Required:
- Degree qualified studying towards professional qualifications (AAT/ACCA/CIMA)
- Experience with Salesforce and Xero desirable but not essential
- Proactive and ability to manage own workload
- Strong administration skills with an advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Accuracy and attention to detail is essential in this role
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
- Must possess the highest level of professionalism, integrity and confidentially
- Must possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent level of customer service
- Team player who recognises the importance of collaborative working
Working Hours: Due to the nature of the business, additional working hours will be necessitated. When courses are in operation, this includes weekend and some evening working, but will not be more than 6 days per week. Any additional days of work will be given as time in lieu.
