We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Volkswagen division at VW Scunthorpe.
This is a fantastic role for a commercially minded, motor trade experienced, accounts person ready to step up to the next level, or an existing Assistant accountant to join our Volkswagen division. This is a role where you will work closely with the Regional Accountant, Heads of Business for each site, and the on-site Accounts office team, making a real difference to operational performance while ensuring all financial control and accounting processes are in place.
Your focus will be around the day to day oversee of both the financial health of 3 Volkswagen franchises, a Marshall Approved Used centre and also the efficient operation of an accounts team who process daily accounting transactions for these sites along with our Nissan dealerships in Lincoln, Grantham & Leicester. In addition to these duties, you will be required to assist with balance sheet control and risk/audit management, along with ensuring inventory checks meet internal requirements, managing working capital and on-going cost reviews. As a developmental role for somebody with aspirations to become a Dealership Accountant, you will take the initial lead for the Management Accounts of our Approved Used site in Scunthorpe, under the guidance and supervision of the Regional Accountant.
We offer training through our in-house Marshall Finance Academy in addition to study support and ongoing on-site training/leadership & support.
You will work as part of the dealership finance & admin team, and also as a part of our retail finance division and will work to support the dealerships with day to day financial reporting and management. Offered on a full-time basis, this role reports to the Regional Accountant.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar role in the motor industry, and will be equally adept at sole working as well as working with, and supervising a team.
What does a typical day/week/month involve?
Daily
- Liaise with local management as well as divisional and group level accounting staff to ensure a consistent approach
- Manage risk and working capital matters
- Ensure all accounts office tasks have been completed in an accurate and timely manner
Weekly
- Bad debt provision reporting & review
- Manufacturer bonus debt reconciliations
Monthly
- Assisting with the production of management accounts as required by the dealership leadership team, dealership accountant & group finance
- Calculate and post accruals and prepayments
- Demo write-down
- Fixed Asset depreciation
- Composite submission to Volkswagen
- Monthly Performance Review meeting file – supporting documentation preparation
- Key controls preparation and review
- Sales & purchase ledger close, review and reporting
