LGIM is looking to recruit an Year in Industry Intern into the Asset Allocation team for 13 months. The Asset Allocation team manage a variety of multi-asset funds which utilise the benefits of diversification to reduce risk while maintaining an attractive return to investors.
What you'll be doingLGIM is looking to recruit an intern into the Asset Allocation team. The Asset Allocation team manage a variety of multi-asset funds which utilise the benefits of diversification to reduce risk while maintaining an attractive return to investors. The asset allocation within these funds range from relatively passive to more active in nature and can be used by defined benefit (DB) schemes, defined contribution (DC) schemes and retail investors. The team conducts a wide range of quantitative and qualitative analysis in order to determine the asset allocations that best suit clients across the range of funds.
The intern will be joining a front office investment management team and will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that aid the team's investment process and distribution efforts. You will be expected to interact with the teams’ economists, strategists and portfolio managers on a day-to-day basis. There are a series of regular tasks that must be performed as well as ad hoc or longer-term projects. Most work involves either qualitative or quantitative analysis of numerical data, including time series data.
What we're looking forFirst and foremost, we are looking for people with an inquisitive mind and a desire to learn. We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:
- On track to a 2.1 degree in any background, however enthusiasm and aptitude for investments, and willing to improve and apply mathematical and economics skills is desired
- Analytical mind-set, with a high level of numeracy - the role will include supporting quantitative analytics and modelling within the investment process
- Great communication skills
- Flexible and a team-player
- High levels of energy, dynamism and commitment
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and the ability to code is desirable. Python and VBA languages preferred
The internship programme has been running within the Asset Allocation team for several years and we recruit two interns into this role each year. Given the nature of the fixed term contract this position lends itself well to a placement in industry during an undergraduate degree, however we do not only look at candidates in this position.
