Aspiring Occupational Therapist - SEN LSA Thanet role within a specialist school for children with Autism and associated, Complex Social Needs – Aspiring Occupational Therapist Swanley.

The school is looking to recruit sincere graduates with aspirations in OT, Child Development, or associated therapies. The provision focuses on PMLD children with Autism, Complex Social Needs, aged 3-16, each child will have a EHCP for their specific need(s) and the level of learning is specific to each class.

This Learning Support Assistant role to begin immediately, January 2023, LSA roles also open for February, applications are open now. It is imperative that you know your objectives and why OT, or a different form of therapy, is you career objective. This is vital for you to be able to qualify and disqualify the sectors for yourself, the many variable sectors of mental health and SEN are very different, requiring different personalities and approaches, it’s not a one size fits all.

This role is Full time, 5 days a week and the school are a specialist school for Autism and Profound Multiple Learning Challenges. The school is an all through SEN school, 4-18years, with small classes to better support each child’s needs.

The school focuses on a primary and secondary curriculum set to enhance their learning and set challenges along the way. This means you will have classes with children of different ages being taught in the same class, which only occurs after in-depth checks and provisions have been made.

The Right Applicant?

• If you have personal aspirations within OT, Clinical Psychology, Education Psychology and Child Development, this is a good base and LSA role in which to start with. This LSA role brings out holistic, therapeutic and restorative qualities and skills, all important aspects of a future role as a Qualified Therapist.
• To gain access to the Education MA you desire, it is crucial to have 9-12 months of paid experience under your belt, you need to be able to qualify and disqualify these areas for yourself.
• This role is all about giving the children as much joy, stimuli, and recognition as possible. Academics do not fall by the wayside, the school will push each student as much as they can and is practical each child’s learning ability will dictate the approach and levels of objectives! Many children will get the greatest enjoyment

Can you make the children's lives just that little bit better, today? Having this experience, working with vulnerable children and understanding the base of your relationships, is crucial for a career in OT or Psychology.

Aspiring Occupational Therapist - SEN LSA Thanet role details:
**Specialist PMLD School for children aged 8-19, tailored curriculum for each student based on ability, not the child’s age
**£75-£85 per day, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 3:30
**Parking is available if you drive
**Dependent on the class and the student’s need, elements of personal care will be required
**PMLD, ADHD, Aspergers, OCD, Dyslexia and a focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges
**Some children with PMLD may have severe difficulties seeing, hearing, speaking and moving – this is where the school’s outstanding differentiating and understanding each student’s EHCP comes into play
**Heavy focus on learning through play and focusing on marginal achievements, that can evolve into sustainable progress.
**Outstanding Teaching and support teams in place, a wonderfully holistic and positive atmosphere
**Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language specialists will come into the school from outside agencies, the school utilises many holistic and therapeutical approaches
**Classes of 3-6 pupils dependent on age, ability and the children’s specific need
