Job description
To provide creative therapy to life-limited children, young people and families accessing Shooting Star Childrens Hospices (SSCH); to address psychological challenges brought about by life-limiting conditions, loss and grief. Therapy interventions are child and family focused, utilising the medium of art, drama, music, play or other creative techniques that bring this work to life for children and young people.
Our therapists each have a caseload of children and young people with life-limiting conditions, siblings and bereaved siblings. They carry out assessments, individual and group sessions. As part of a family support team, our therapists look at all ways we can support families to live the best life possible. This might be through providing mental health advice, education and signposting, or working closely with schools and other settings.
We are passionate about helping families ensure psychological struggles do not unnecessarily impact children and young peoples lives, and we do so through providing safe spaces for processing and healing, and specialist knowledge and care.
