At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work. The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday. However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.


Role:
The role of the Honda Finance Europe (HFE) Area Operations Manager (AOM) is to be a point-of-sale finance and retention consultant, developing and coaching the Honda Car, Motorcycle and ATV Dealer Network across a geographical territory.


Each AOM is required to work with their allocated dealers in the best use of HFE as a tool to maximise the sales of Honda products in a compliant way that generates good customer outcomes at a satisfactory level of profitability. The AOM is to ensure our Network understand and comply with the Financial Conduct Authorities ‘FCA’ Consumer Credit Sourcebook and Consumer Duty Principle to be a dealer network that pays due regard to customer’s needs and circumstances and offers those customers credit products that are affordable, suitable and sustainable.


AOM’s require specific regulatory knowledge to support Honda dealers with compliance and must partner with those dealers to deliver policies and procedures that support cultural change to deliver the FCA’s Consumer Duty and must act in compliance with the Duty to deliver good outcomes for HFE customers. This includes a broad area of knowledge in FCA Rules and Guidance, UK GDPR, Financial Crime prevention (AML) and Consumer Credit regulations to offer the customer “a great funding experience which puts the interests of those customers at the centre of the finance sales process and treats them fairly” whether they ultimately take Honda Finance credit products or not.


AOM’s are required to create a relationship built on partnership and to improve finance & retention performance by providing training to key staff within the network to support their compliance requirements and performance objectives.


As this role is field based you will require a full driving license and the ability to travel within the region of the role (Southwest of England including South Wales and cities such as Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol, Swansea and Cardiff) with flexibility for overnight stays as required.



Main Responsibilities:

  • Effectively monitoring and reviewing the HFE Dealer network’s obligations under the Financial Conduct Authorities ‘FCA’ Consumer Credit Sourcebook, which includes Treating Customer Fairly and Consumer Duty Outcomes.
  • Ensure that Sales Operations are monitoring and reviewing the HFE Dealer network’s adherence to HFE Policies and Operational Guidance related to the sale and support of credit and associated products.
  • Identifying and acting on any risks that failure to follow the HFE policies and Operational Guidance could expose either the Dealer, HFE or customers to. Ensure any remedial action taken is swift and proportionate, and that the action results in the annulment of any risks identified.
  • Minimising the risk to HFE of Dealers behaving in a detrimental manner towards customers and endangering Good Customer Outcomes by failing to comply with Consumer Duty or Treat Customers Fairly.
  • Carry out monthly review meetings with Dealer Management and review performance in all key areas, challenging gaps and implementing action plans that maximise sales by optimising compliant sales processes and customer retention programmes.
  • Carry out a Dealer Oversight Review with Dealer Management and Compliance teams on an annual basis as a minimum. Review and assess a dealer’s performance against CONC (Consumer Credit), TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) and Consumer Duty rules and guidance, challenge any shortfalls and agree any remedial action with a dealer decision maker.
  • Identify Coaching and Development requirements amongst Dealer employees who are responsible for selling regulated consumer credit products to help ensure good customer outcomes and to minimise the risk of customer detriment.
  • Negotiate a mutually agreeable commercial terms package between the dealer and HFE Sales Operations on an annual basis that supports and satisfies the FCA Motor Finance Review Final Guidance from January 2021. Review these terms quarterly.
  • Obtain commitment from Dealer Management for Annual Business Plans that reflect the levels and areas of performance agreed in the terms package.
  • Foster a close-working relationship with Associates in Honda Motor Europe, Bracknell, to ensure the service to the Dealers is at the optimum standard.
  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with Honda Motor Europe UK Car, Bike & ATV Associates to ensure that the objectives of both parties are satisfied
  • Handle administration and complete reports within the agreed time scales.
  • Support the dissemination of information relating to understanding and embedding of HFE’s Consumer Duty market analysis and approach.

Qualifications, skills and experience: Required/Desirable
Required

  • Significant experience in Motor Trade or Finance Company Experience in either a Sales or Compliance role
  • Effective and Influential coach and trainer.
  • High degree of self-motivation and drive.
  • Good communication and relationship skills – with internal and external contacts.
  • Proven analytical skills to review data and provide quality information to others.
  • Able to work alone and take on ownership in geographically diverse locations, ensuring personal responsibility and both professional.
  • Must exhibit strong alignment with the values of Honda Philosophy and a high level of integrity.

Desirable

  • Proficient user in Microsoft Office programmes including Teams, PowerPoint and Excel
