The Atkins Architecture and Master planning Practice in Epsom is seeking talented and skilled architects, designers, technicians with UK experience and the ability to gain UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) security clearance to join our studio in Surrey. The ideal candidate should have design experience throughout all work stages, from concept to delivery.
Our architectural studio in Epsom comprises architects, landscape architects, interior designers, and building surveyors. We are an RIBA Registered Practice with over 450 architectural employees across the UK working on projects worldwide. Our practice is part of a larger multi-disciplinary Building Design practice, where we work closely with our engineering colleagues.
Our new 'state-of-the-art' office is not only exemplary but also a hub of innovative and collaborative energy. It is just a 10-minute walk from Epsom station and has plenty of cycle storage and changing facilities for those who prefer to cycle to work.

General requirements for the role include:
- Having excellent communication skills, fluent in English – spoken and written.
- Good conceptual and design skills, with aesthetic flair.
- Previous experience within the MOD sector is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to design within a highly regulated sector, rigid adherence to design codes and MOD standards.
- Excellent presentation skills, both verbally and visually, using software and hand drawings.
- Strong interpersonal skills, organized and efficient, with a keen eye for attention to detail and accuracy.
- Being proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative in response to direction from project leaders, directors, and partners.
- Being a team player, with a flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and collaborating.
- Having excellent ability in Revit, Rhino, Adobe Suite. Grasshopper and V-Ray are a plus.
- Experience and knowledge of compliance requirements, e.g., Building Regulations and British Standards, preferably in the UK.
- Possessing solid knowledge of products, materials, zoning/building codes, and construction methods, preferably in the UK.
- Possessing a strong ability to prepare, develop, and edit detailed drawings and models to develop all parts of the changing design process.
- Contributing as required to design reviews.
- Supporting communication between the project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials.
Essential skills, experience, and qualifications:
Senior Architect:
- A professional qualification as an architect (RIBA Part 3) or an equivalent overseas qualification and professional experience.
- Having strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines on budget and on time.
- Strategically designing timelines and work-plans.
- Reporting to the project leader on design aspects and to the managing director on operations, risk management, contractual, and other matters.
- Liaising with clients when required to drive discussions to resolution.
- Proactively dealing with risk assessment and management.
- Having technical detailing and construction administration experience, with the ability to resolve design issues in a creative and pragmatic way by developing multiple design options that meet the project budget and design approach.
Project Architect:
- A professional qualification as an architect (RIBA Part 3) or an equivalent overseas qualification and professional experience.
- Work with and report daily to the project leader.
- Assist with the management and mentoring of junior team members.
Architect:
- A professional qualification as an architect (RIBA Part 3) or an equivalent overseas qualification.
Architectural Assistant:
- Professional qualification towards becoming an architect (RIBA Part 1) or an equivalent overseas qualification.
- This role requires a recognized Part 1/2 qualification and the ability to work within a team to produce detailed 2D and 3D design drawings, concept sketches, and presentation graphics.
Architectural Technician:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field or an equivalent overseas qualification and professional experience.
- Drafting comprehensive drawing sets from concept through construction documents.
- Providing technical guidance and innovative solutions to help resolve complex technical and design challenges.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
