We’re an international aerospace, defence and security company, with sites all-round the UK, that do loads of exciting and important things to make the world safer and more secure. We defend nations, save lives and protect communities around the globe.

For more than a century, Babcock, the Aerospace and Defence Company, has been trusted to deliver bespoke, highly skilled engineering services. We help customers in the UK and around the world to improve the capability, reliability, and availability of their most critical assets within the four market sectors of Marine, Land, Aviation, and Nuclear, underpinned by a deep understanding of technology integration, unique infrastructure and specialist training.

As a Babcock Vehicle Engineering (BVE) Technical Apprentice you will work on a wide range of Civilian Land Equipment. Apprentices will be trained to IMI Level 2 Auto-care Technician Standard (Vehicle Mechanics) combined with a Level 3 NNQ in After Market VCQ. The academic aspects of the apprenticeship will be delivered to Light Vehicle Technician Standard over a 3-phase period with annual phase gateways at the end of each academic year to confirm learners’ progression to the next phase of the standard. The role is based from Vehicle Engineering in Walsall but with the opportunity to work from other sites for short periods to broaden your experience.

All 1st Year Apprentices will also complete a mandatory one-week residential outward bound training course.

Apprentices will work at a variety of locations across the site and will move around to gain an insight into all the operations on site. There is a requirement to attend college, training will be done both onsite and at the college location.
