Apprentice Terminal Operator

The role: A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for two Apprentice Terminal Operators to join our teams, one in Liverpool and one in Falmouth, Cornwall.
The successful candidates will be enrolled in an established, two-year Bulk Fuel Operations Apprenticeship program.
The Bulk Fuel Operations Apprenticeship Program has been designed to develop your expertise across operational and technical areas of the business. Your plant-based training program is supported by a nationally recognised apprentice standard (Level 3 Diploma Qualification for a Bulk Storage Operator Technician).
We support the apprentice standard with all the relevant technical certificates to enable our apprentices to develop their skills in all aspects of Terminal Operations. You will not only gain valuable skills and knowledge around Terminal Operations, but you will also learn all aspects about working within a COMAH Bulk Liquid Operational Site.
In the area of Process Safety, you will gain valuable insights into all aspects of Process Safety study techniques, COMAH requirements, Human Factors and Functional Safety. We provide a positive environment together with a strong safety and team working culture. The programme is delivered by Reynolds Training Services, Redwood Park Estate, Stallingborough, DN41 8TH.
The first year (approximately 30 weeks) will be based at the Reynolds Training Facility. The first year will be structured around a term time framework with the successful candidate requiring attending the Reynolds Training Facility in Stallingborough over a number of weeks.
The second year is primarily based at the Liverpool and Falmouth sites under a mentorship programme with the successful candidate spending allocated weeks during each month back at the Reynolds Training Facility in Stallingborough.
Our Bulk Fuel Operations Apprenticeship Program will ensure a well-rounded exposure to all areas of Depot Operations, and we will provide you with the opportunity to make a genuine impact in a company with a pioneering spirit.
Responsibilities:
- Receive cargo and vessel transfer into storage facility.
- Discharge product from storage facility to company vessels and 3rd party vessels.
- Complete all daily routine as instructed by line manager.
- Transfer product from within storage facility to create new product blends to correct specifications.
- Tank gauging for vessel movements and month end stock taking.
- Maintain a computerized records system of product movements.
- Ensure product is maintained at the correct temperature.
- Ensure all operations are carried out in a timely and safe manner with special attention to Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies.
- Ensure correct documentation is completed prior, during and after all transactions.
- Training: commitment to continuous improvement and support for terminal first aid and fire warden requirements.
- Taking ownership of terminal housekeeping and cleanliness
The candidate: We are looking for candidates who are hardworking, reliable, trustworthy, and keen to learn and develop themselves within the Bulk Liquid Storage Industry. You need to be able to demonstrate good communication and problem-solving skills and that you can work as part of a team.
You must have minimum qualifications of National 4/Intermediate1/Credit Standard Grade in Maths, English and a Science.
The starting salary is £13,500 per year with annual increments for each year whilst under training. The hours are 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 1.00pm on Friday (37 hours per week).
