With excellent customer service at the heart of everything we do the IT Service Desk is the central point of contact for staff and students seeking help, advice and support for all IT related services. We fix things so users can do their work. Every day is different and presents new challenges. If you like dealing with problems and have an interest in IT this is the job for you.
About the Role: The Apprentices will join our Service Desk team and will be provided with an excellent opportunity to start or change to a career in IT support. During the apprenticeship you will learn & develop the necessary skills, expertise and experience to provide assistance to the members of the IT Service Desk and ultimately be able to fully perform the role of IT Service Desk Analyst. Learning and development will include on-job-training, mentoring and the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification (IT Apprenticeship Level 3 Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in either Networking Infrastructure or Software Development). Further development will include qualifications in ICDL, ICDL Advanced, PRINCE 2 Foundation, ITIL v4 Foundation, CISCO Cybersecurity Essentials, Google IT Support Professional Certificates.
Starting salary £19,578 per annum. An increment will be due on successful completion of the first year of the apprenticeship. On completion of the apprenticeship the apprentice will progress to the role of IT Service Desk Analyst, Grade 5 (first salary point currently £25,642) with the opportunity of further annual increments (current top incremental point £29,619).
About You: We are looking for someone with a passion for IT support and the ability to deliver excellent customer service to join an established, dynamic and friendly team to provide responsive IT support for the University. To apply you must demonstrate that you have:
- Five GCSEs, at Grade C or above which includes English Language and Mathematics, AND
- A grade C pass at A level in any subject area (or an equivalent qualification in any discipline).
Apprenticeships are designed to develop new knowledge and skills at a higher level than you already have, or in a new vocational area. So, you will not be eligible to apply if you already hold the same or similar qualification in the same vocational area.
Please note that following an initial eligibility sift, candidates will be asked to complete an online aptitude test. Only those candidates with the highest score will be invited to interview.
