Maesbrook Care Home is a leading forty-five bed nursing home based in Shrewsbury, providing twenty-four-hour care, who are currently looking to recruit full senior health care assistants to work days
A professional attitude at all times, awareness of the need of confidentiality, reliability, flexibility as to working shifts and tasks allotted and good timekeeping. The ability to conduct oneself in a quiet manner and treat residents with courtesy respecting their dignity at all times. With e-learning and practical training provided to use an Atlas electronic medication system validated by Cardiff University to support non qualified nurses to safely administer regular resident medication.
There will be the additional incentive for those who wish to progress their careers and full support will be given at all times to those who wish to do so.
Current initiatives include partnering with Wolverhampton University so as to advance health care assistants to nursing assistant status. Furthermore, Maesbrook is also looking to develop a small team to work on rehabilitation of specific residents including those who have suffered strokes. All necessary training will be provided.
General Day to Day Duties
1 Ensure that accurate electronic care records are updated during the shift, and support is given to junior members of staff with recording the care interventions they have provided.
2 Ensure residents receive sufficient nutrition; liaise with cook with regard to special diets/supplements that may be required and record dietary intake.
3.Complete daily care records for all residents utilising the electronic person centred care plans. (Full training will be given on use of the system.)
4 Ensure at all times that residents needs have been attended to with specific regard to provision of drinks, correct placement of equipment and room preparation e.g. opening of curtains.
5 To be aware of and to fully adhere to the care home’s practices, policies and procedures at all times.
6 Work alongside newly employed care assistants to ensure they have an understanding of all policies/procedures within the home.
7 Using Atlas electronic recording system after e-learning and competency training to administer regular oral medication to residents at Maesbrook Care Home, excluding warfarin, steroids and any PRN medication for pain management, psychotropic for behaviour control, all medication delivered by other routes to oral delivery for example, insulin given subcutaneously, rectal using suppositories. A qualified nurse is required to either: 1. administer these medications when necessary and/or 2. a clinical decision is required to be made about administering or withholding a PRN medication as described above. · Carry out all the instructions of the nurse in charge in an efficient and conscientious manner.
To report at all times evidence of physical or mental changes in the condition of a resident to the nurse in charge.
