About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as a Finance Assistant Apprentice in the OCDEM department.
You will learn to carry out the key aspects of the financial process in the department, for example accounts payable and accounts receivable and general ledgers. This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual keen to gain practical financial administrative experience within a fast-paced and successful team. You will be allocated a primary set of duties (see job description) and as your skills develop, there will be an opportunity to widen your skills, or focus on specific areas. You will work alongside the Finance Officer, with support from the Deputy Administrator and Departmental Administrator.
About the apprenticeship
As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Abingdon and Witney College, where you will complete a Finance Apprenticeship undertaking AAT level 2.
For this apprenticeship, you will work at the OCDEM department in Churchill Hospital. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend OCDEM offices at least two days a week, some remote working will be possible. During your apprenticeship, you will need to attend Abingdon and Witney College once a week.
In total, it will take 18 months to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout.

About you
You will be passionate about starting your career in Finance and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change.
To complete the level 2 apprenticeship you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. If you did not achieve these grades, do not let that put you off from applying as you can study Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship giving you the equivalent qualifications needed.
To help check that you have the potential to achieve these, Abingdon and Witney College will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
