Job description
The successful candidate will assist with the daily running of our dog day care centre and livery yard, caring for the dogs and their clients and upholding the excellent service offered at Alpha Dog. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with animals as well as a great opportunity to provide excellent face to face client care to customers. The role is within the hours of 8.45 -4pm. Days of work will need to be flexible and is built around the needs of the business and WILL involve some weekend & Bank Holiday work. A flexible approach to working days and hours is essential as extra hours may be required. A lot of the work will be outdoors and you will be required to work in all weather conditions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Engaging with dogs throughout the day in an indoor and outdoor environment
- Supervising dogs playing together during their day.
- Preparing meals for dogs including any special diets.
- Administering medication if required.
- Mucking out horses stables, sweeping the yard and ensuring the stable block is kept clean and tidy.
- Keeping the dog daycare barn clean and hygienic, sweeping out and removing waste. • Handling dogs individually, where necessary, to make sure they are obedient and well-behaved.
- Checking customers in and out of the day care, completing all necessary paperwork including checking up to date vaccinations and completing daily registers
- Job is physically demanding and includes outside work in all weathers.
- The successful applicant will be confident dealing with dogs and horses and customers and must be able to use a computer and be confident in talking to people on the phone.

Desired Qualifications
- GCSE’s or equivalent in maths and English Grade C/4 or higher are desirable but not essential
- Relevant animal experience is desired
- Applicants cannot already hold a level 2 or 3 in animal care as this will affect eligibility.

Training
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Animal Care & Welfare Apprenticeship Standard.
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship
